Can anyone suggest some good food to try in minneapolis?

Gonna be my first time in the city, I'm from Maryland.

I see they have a Giordanos so that's on my list despite mostly being a Chicago thing.

All suggestions welcome except for vegan ones.

Firearms are expensive, worth dozens of meals.

I'd prefer food.

Is this some special flyover mental illness? Someone makes fun of your food so you spam something from google translate?

There's a bunch of Somali cab drivers just south of Frogtown crammed into just a couple square blocks. Not sure about Minneapolis. Ethiopean restaurant food there is great, Somali is shit and I haven't seen a restaurant, nor do I want to. That tiny arab/Somali block or two was the only place I was afraid of being at night when I was there.

It’s pretty good if you don’t have babby palate. Just make sure to go alone and not with any “locals” as they’re just going to make awkward terrorism jokes loudly in front of the staff while insinuating that the meal will give them diarrhea

last time i went someone told me they had a big hmong population
you can try out some of their food it seems like its all mostly south east asian type
they have a market or something like that that you can grab some cheap eats.

There's more than one hmong market. The one off Rice St is converted warehouses with greenhouses outback. You wouldn't know it was there if you weren't looking for it. It's cool as fuck inside the warehouses. It looks a lot like a fantasy market with tiny to very large stalls selling everything you could imagine. Produce is fresher than you can get anywhere else and fuck cheap. You can buy clothes, media (usually not in english), kitchen utensils like silverware and knives that are often better shit, and of course food made there. And a ton more.

Jucy Lucys were invented here. It's lava hot melted cheese inside a burger, so you know it's going to be good.

Red's makes a great thin crust style pizza with a fuckton of toppings and cheese, and a great spicy sauce. If you're adventurous, try a sausage and sauerkraut pie, but everything else they have is amazing, I honestly usually either get plain sausage or pepperoni. Whatever you do, order it well done, pic related.

I meant “shoot yourself in the face” but I guess you missed the subtext. I’ll try to be less discreet next time.

I'll give you some really good advice, OP. Drive perfectly south and go eat some corn with a bunch of farmer folk out in rural Iowa. It's much better than anything you will find Stinkeapolis.

List of actual good Minneapolis restaurants to try:
pinku great japanese style, kado no mise (exquisite japanese and sushi menu, young joni (awesome pizza), day block brewery (get the banh mizza), filfillah (absolute first rate turkish/mediterannean), holy land (unique middle eastern place), red star (ethiopian)

Don't go to giordano's please. There are huge viet/hmong populations here but it's hard to recommend a single restaurant because there's so much variability on the basis of the chef's discretion and the family recipes etc. Good luck and enjoy!

As long as it's the Red's Savoy in St Paul. The one in Fridley really disappointed me. Gotta check out the Roseville location.
