We all now /ck loves fast food. But most threads are about McDonald s, Chic fil A, KFC - the big American fast food restaurants. For something different, what does /ck/ think of Mos Burger?

They are the second biggest burger chain here in Japan (behind only McDonald's) and I think they are really good. Any anons here have experience with this chain? I normally get their double burgers because they typically add way too much tomato/lettuce on their burgers but I think they are really good and that if they were popular in the West that /ck/ would be having threads about them.

Looks like there's a couple near me, judging by their site. I'll give them a go if you swear by them, anon.

i'm not really a fan. had them a couple times and while they weren't bad, they didn't impress me at all. i just stick with carl's jr or mcdonald's if i need a fast food burger.

Stationed in Japan. Had it. Better then American chains but honestly there's better in Tokyo at least.

They are pretty different so even if they wind up not being to your taste I think they are worth it.

I didn't like it at first either but somehow I do now. I had their past two special limited menu burgers - one was a sichuan pepper burger and the other was a cream cheese burger - they changed my mind.

I'm not a big fan of McDonald's standard menu either, though their special limited burgers here in Japan tend to be quite good. Never had Carl's JR to be honest.

Well of course you can get some pretty good burgers in Tokyo. I am just talking about fast food burgers here. I don't really like fast food, I only eat it once or twice a month maybe. I just also feel that it is pretty good by fast food standards.

it's basically their after 5pm deal of doubling the patties for 100yen that makes mcdonald's worth it for me.

carl's is good for one thing but it's great: the western bacon cheeseburger (regular, not the thickburger version). tastes like home

>tastes like home
I'm going to go try it next weekend now that you said that I hope you are right. Feeling oddly nostalgiac for home right recently.

well what i mean by that is it tastes exactly the same as carl's in the US, down to the same bacon and bbq sauce. so if you're not nostalgic for that specific thing, might not have the same effect. but by all means do try it.

It's pretty good. Tastes substantially different from the typical fast food fare, I find. My favourite's the Spicy Mos, cheese occasionally. Very messy burger but quite satisfying. The Mos chicken's pretty freakin' good and they're the only chain I know of that offers great milk tea. Took a look at the global menu and it's a shame they don't offer their mussel nuggets globally, because those kick ass.
>they typically add way too much tomato/lettuce on their burgers
Yeah, the thick slices of tomato can be quite a bit. Also makes the burger really difficult to keep together.

Try some actually interesting convenience food. Japanese fast food chains are better than the US, but they are still fast food.

When I went to Japan last year I decided to try these out since it's only in Japan and to my dismay it taste okay. Nothing good about it but also nothing bad about it. I got the spicy one and it wasn't that spicy. I should have gone across the street to try Japanese carls jr instead but oh well. It's worth at least trying once just to see how fast food japanese burgers are.

Oden, and more specifically Shizuoka style oden. Its fishcakes, potatoes, and konjac on skewers boiled in broth. It's a popular winter food at festivals and in convenience stores. Shizuoka oden is special because the broth is beef stock, and the hanpen fishcakes are a little different.
This was homemade, so nobody bothered with skewers here.

Sloppy and the meat is oddly sweet, not a huge fan.

It's okay. However the quality has declined over the years and is not what it used to be. Overpriced for Japanese portions. If you spend 1000 yen for a real burger you'd be more full compared to buying two 500 yen burgers at Mos.
