Blackpill me on microwaves.

If you move into a place that has one already than it can be useful now and then but for the most part they are fairly useless and take up a lot of space

>> No.12141325

Obsolete.

Like the other anon said they take up a ton of space and make food taste like shit.

>> No.12141353

Anything you can make in a microwave you can make in a toaster oven

>> No.12141397

the point of a microwave is that it can cook a room temperature meal in like 30 seconds. it's also great for heating up sauces and shit without having to waste a burner and a pot and like 5-10 minutes. people like >>12141066 and >>12141325 are dipshits who think every kitchen excursion needs to take 20 minutes.

P.S. raw fish cooks perfectly in the microwave for some reason, a great lazy meal if you have some cheap fish and it only takes about 2 minutes.

I'm never falling for that again

You'll miss popcorn, but that's all.
Get a popcorn maker. I still haven't bought one.

>> No.12141703

It's good for "baking" a couple fat potatoes in like 8mins.

>> No.12142253

Its for reheating left overs, why do we need a fucking thread for this? You could nuke a potato or toss some premade shit in there if you're tight on time or energy, but the most important part is having a reasonable way to reheat something.

it uses radiant heat and cook from the inside out.
do not cook pastry of any kind unless you like soggy wet mess.

good for rice or reheats. or defrosting bread or butter in a hurry

So what you're saying is that there is no use for them.

Motherfucker? It's primarily for reheating. It probably comes second in importance next to stoves. Do you exclusively order food or something?

>> No.12142347

>>12142340
Food never needs to be reheated. Food that has been cooked remains cooked even when it goes cold. It does not need heat to "stay cooked"

>> No.12142380

What the fuck
Shut up, you freak of nature. Cooking things make them edible and better tasting, and the warmth keeps something taste good. Cold food almost always loses flavor. Microwaves aren't for cooking, they're for heating.

Great for emergency potato at work. Stab with a fork like 5 times and wrap in a paper towel and depending on the size of the tater maybe 7-8 mins and you're gucci

I use mine to reheat leftovers or heat the frozen vegetables.

Pathetic. It's time to grow up and develop an actual palate.

I threw an old one out and I've lived without one for a while. Anyone who plans their meals wouldn't ever need one.
Sadly, I'm not much of a planner, so I need to quick defrost occasionally. Using the steamer or my oven's defrost function is not really the alternative I hoped it would be.
Still wouldn't have bought one again, but I could get one for free and couldn't pass on that.
TL;DR: they're second to none for quick defrosting, that's all.

True blackpill coming through:

>The best microwave is one with two analogue dials: power and time
>Needless to say it would be exceptionally well-built and of sufficient power, and power granularity, to complete all tasks expected of it
>As consumers demand more features and lower prices, manufacturers add these at the expense of quality and simplicity
>The net result is a trend towards over-featured poorly-built microwaves that are more difficult and time consuming to use
>There is no end in sight, in the consumer market at least, as a reversal of this trend would require a radical reversal in consumer preferences
>Thus, the next microwave you buy will probably be worse than your last one

>> No.12142516

the only thing ive been using my microwave for is heating up water for instant coffee. everything else i can reheat on the stove or in the oven. It takes a little longer but you have more control over temperature and texture. Very rarely do i have microwave popcorn as i already have a whirly-pop. again takes longer but the flavor variation is greatly increased. microwaves are for offices and warehouse workers. You have a kitchen. Use it!
