I've been craving a hearty bowl of ramen as of late. I enjoy miso butter corn, but I have a fondness for tonkotsu ramen.

What about you, /ck/? What's your favorite bowl of ramen?

Threw this together for dinner; shitake mushroom, bok choy and scallion. I doctored store bought chicken broth with mirin, soy and oyster sauce, hoisin and rice vinegar. Noodles are Halo brand. Not bad, girlfriend really enjoys when I make it.

Daikokuya ramen with added kotteri flavor from the little Tokyo location of Daikokuya. The other branches don't live up to the OG Daikokuya. There's a reason why there's still a line all the time at this location even though there's other ramen places all up and down the street. Fucking GOD tier, bitches!

Hakata tonkotsu, I live in Japan so I flew down there over the spring break and had a tonne. That shit is addictive as hell, not even kidding it's great.
The sad thing was when I got back to my inaka shithole the local mall had a special fukuoka event which included all the gifts that I'd brought back anyway. Ffs

Gokkei in Kyoto has an insanely thick chicken gravy ramen. Made any of the bowls I have had in Hakata seem lightweight. Menya Saimi in Sapporo is my favorite miso bowl.

i too, went to japan, and tried a lot of ramen.

not for me. i was more hyped to eat japanese diner food. ramen is just what, you get a broth and noodles. yeah big whoop. analyzing the flavors of specific menyas shits is akin to me driving around my shitty desert hometown, sampling a big mac at every mcdonald, and noting the subtle differences in flavor which surely depends on how much particles of fecal matter are involved, and whether or not the flippers are from honduras or oaxaca.

fuck that noise. get me a saba and rice.

Eh, ramen can get old if you're eating it everyday but it does vary a lot in style. I always change things up with some curry or street food vendors. Oden shops are amazing. Saba is always good, though.

I had a $13 Taiwanese tonkotsu abomination at a boba and shaved ice store recently.
My favorite is spicy tonkotsu with wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, corn, extra meat, and half boiled egg. I also like the other weird side items like chicken karaage, carrot and onion kakiage, soft potato croquettes. Sometimes when me and my boy are feeling cheap, he'll order extra noodles and I'll give him broth and some toppings.

Here in Tokyo I never eat tonkotsu, most people don't, it simply isn't that popular.
