Some people have a high metabolism, but if you just drank water and ate 4 big macs a day you wouldn't be obese. A big mac is ~600 calories. 600x4=2400 for a male. If you just had a big mac for dinner every night that wouldn't be too terrible as far as calories go. Has anybody actually tried the "Impossible Burger" or any of this company's other products?

I have, and they really are indistinguishable from real meat. Back when they rolled out their first stuff (cooked "beef" crumbles and grilled "chicken" strips) I did a taste test with other local reviewers. Tried two samples of chili and two of chicken salad . . . . hadn't the slightest idea which was fake. The chicken in particular was impressive, exact same texture and flavor as the real deal.

The Impossible Burger in particular is really neat in that it cooks exactly like the real thing. I can put one next to a real patty on the grill and they come out identical.

As for health they're not claiming the things are healthy. They ARE healthier than real beef, but the big thing is they're better for the environment and health in general (don't require antibiotics and all the other downsides of raising a ton of cows).

The point is that if they can get this stuff to the point where its significantly cheaper than real meat while tasting the same and being (marginally) better for you then meat eaters will buy it. And that's good for everyone in the end.

When is this gonna go nationwide? I want to try it now. The White Castle sliders aren't bad. They taste like dried and reconstituted beef stew.

I've read that if they stay on track with their current projections they will have their products at half the cost of cheap beef/etc. This is mindblowing because all of their products taste and feel like the high-end versions of the product they emulate.

You can get them at Red Robin currently. They sell them in barrels basically so it's like regular beef. You make a patty and then cook it. Red Robin ships them frozen though already made into patties. There's a place near me that has big, fat juicy patties that are much more fresh than those. I wouldrecommend finding a place that has a lot of foods that can be made from impossible meat like tacos, etc- as they will have the actually mince and make you a crazy burger.

It's actually the case, at least in Europe where fast food items follow strict sanitary rules regarding additives and preservatives which isn't the case in the US hence the difference of taste between fast foods in Europe and the US.
