Do people really season their rice and cook it on a stove? Season the food that's served with the rice, and use a rice cooker.

I routinely leave different aromatics and seasoning in the water of the rice cooker while it cooks.

I thought this was normal?

I'm Filipino. The main dishes in our cuisine are too strong to let any added flavor in the rice come through.

Just curious, though, with what main dish would rice infused with cardamom seeds and star anise pair? Sounds Indian.

Instead of cooking it myself I just walk down a few blocks to the local Chinese restaurant and buy a pint from them. They're better at that then I am for the amount of rice that I consume, which really isn't much.
Stuff like yellow rice I'll do myself in a pan.

I fucking guarantee it from my experience here in rice threads with anons overestimating their rice and settling for goopy, mushy, sticky messes. if there's even a single bundle of rice somewhat sticking together, you've fucked up.

A lot of people don't eat rice on a daily basis here in the states or other places except for Asia. So it might not make sence to get a rice cooker which just takes up space on a countertop, hence what I wrote, just walk or drive down to your local Chinese restaurant and buy a pint or a quart from them.

It's not that, I can do it in a pot, the problem is that even on a proper fire stove it requires attention. You're making an assumption that makes no sense, I've done it multiple ways but in the end a cooker does it better, that's what restaurants use but for higher quantities.

Yeah, but it's the best veggie to use with taco seasoning. Throw half a packet of taco seasoning in with the water for flavor. All in all I can make a meal for less than $2. I can't be spending all my money on nourishment. I have video games to buy.

You can season your rice in a rice cooker. Then you should already season your food that you are eating with the rice.
