My dad used to always order his and my steaks well done.

His theory was that cooking the shit out of the steaks gets rid of all the bacteria. I guess it made sense when we went on Vacations to Mexico even though we were at a pretty Americanized resort, but he would do the same thing on the rare occasion we went out to a nice restaurant.
I order my steaks medium well now.
