I have so many warm memories of Tim Hortons in the past. I knew a lot of the workers and owner of one location. Was pretty comfy. What the fuck happened?

tim hortons is in MI (non black parts) and it's the same.

overall though tim hortons is pretty awful. no one i know actually likes their coffee but we all keep going like we're apart of some kind of ritual. their banana nut muffins are good, though.

Tim Hortons is a fascinating franchise in that each location will be staffed 100% by a single ethnicity, and as such the restaurant's performance is drastically different depending which race you get

Whites - middle of the road service, okay atmosphere, can be lazy at times, order fuckups are common

Filipinos - excellent service, difficult language barrier, relatively efficient, a mix between white service and Chinese service

Indians - God fucking help you, you won't get what you asked for, it'll take twice as long as it should, no one can speak more than five words of English, big dumb smiles at all times

Chinese - brutal efficiency, you'll get your order before you even asked for it, horrible language barrier but it doesn't seem to matter, feels like a different species

Blacks - lazy beyond belief, likely one employee out of ten who is actually doing any work, even though you can see for a fact that they have what you want they'll say they don't have it if they don't feel like making it

There’s a mom & pop donut shop in my neighborhood called the Donut Factory that has been there for decades (they also have pasties, broasted chicken and soups and sandwiches) and right next to it, there was a bar.

Then one day I see the bar has been sold and is being demolished and a few weeks later, I discover they’re building a fucking Tim Hortons literally right nextdoor to the mom & pop donut shop. Absolute bullshit!

The Donut Factory has been there forever and the owners are a part of the community and have paid taxes all these years but the Tim Hortons mega-corporation came in and bribed the zoning board so they could set-up one of their joints _specifically_ as a loss leader (there’s another Tim Hortons just a couple of miles away) to drive the local place out of business (which so far hasn’t worked, lol).

This happened on Tuesday and I am still shaking. On my way to the office, I noticed that I passed no less than three Tim Hortons along the way, so on this faithful Tuesday, I decided to try it out. There was a large line in the drive through so I pulled into a parking spot. I noticed that every other vehicle was backed into their spots and thought it strange, but I was hungry (hi hungry, I'm dad) and went in anyway. At this point, I was overwhelmed by the offerings. There were two people in front of me so I took a moment to read through the menu since I knew I had some time. This is when the assault occurs. Apparently, in the 48 seconds I had been looking at the menu, the two people in me had been processed and I was holding up the line and one of them had the unmitigated gall to lightly tap me on the shoulder. As I turned around I saw the 18 people who had queued behind me while I was making my decision. My attacker pointed to a lady at the counter and said "She can help you." At this point I see the lady frantically trying to get my attention by gently saying "Hello? Sir? Sir, I can take your order here". Stunned by this assault, I stumble forward and order. Unfortunately, I am now fumbling around with unfamiliar currency and it is taking even more time. Then I am promptly served a large coffee, a hot breakfast sandwich, and a hash brown. At this point, I realize that I didn't get a receipt and actually had to back- track to the register and cut off my attacker from ordering to ask for it. Much like Mitch Hedberg, it seems Tim Hortons philosophy on selling donuts is "We don't need to bring ink and paper into this."I make it out of the building and head back to my car. I get in, have a sip, start the vehicle, put it in reverse and I sit for the next 8 minutes as there is no chance for me to back out of my parking spot without causing an incident again. Now the cars and trucks backed into the parking spots make sense. I really should have followed their example.

Went to a tim hortons while staying in canada and the dumb indian/muslim staff took like 5 minutes to make a single coffee for my friend, but quickly gave me my frappe and donut.

Customer service at Tim's in MI is a complete crapshoot. There's no standard and it seems to be totally up to the person working. A simple order might take minutes to fill, on multiple occasions I've ordered iced coffee and got the plastic cup that clearly had hot coffee poured over ice, and I swear they almost never toast the bagels when I ask. But sometimes it's fine. Just fine.

You refuse the tip, and if they are stubborn and leave it for you anyway, then you put it under the cash tray and tell the manager at the end of the night when counting the till, so that the actual numbers add up to what they should. One thing I've noticed at every Tim Hortons is that you get much worse service if you walk in opposed to going through the drive-thru. There's been times where I've been standing at the till for a good few minutes watching four motherfuckers behind the counter taking care of drive-thru orders but nobody seems able to come to the till to take my order.

They changed their coffee after they got bought out, their food is kinda crappy and overpriced, and their donuts come in frozen and they just pop them in the oven and dip them in icing. The muffins are generally decent though, kinda hard to fuck that up.

I get where you're coming from, but considering any possible tips you could make in a month at a register at any sort of business are completely negligible, I'm not about to get upset. If it were $100, and now knowing that it's supposed to be illegal for them to take it, then I would definitely make a case regarding the law for me to keep it. If given pushback, I would just threaten to call HR and corporate to report them, begin a case against them, and contact the BBB. When I was doing my undergrad at Queen's the Tims on campus were all good.

Here in Nova Scotia Tim's is a fairly uniform experience. It's not great, it's not terrible. Stores are usually on the cleaner side and I've never had an issue with the service or the people.

Where Tim's fucks up is the speed at which they try to get orders out. They completely burn out their employees and the food quality suffers. Their bagels don't stay in long enough to get toasted, their paninis come out cold half the time, etc.

Love their iced coffees for some reason, regular coffee is 3/10.
