I had the evening shift and the retard ahead of me would never do the cart from the upper floor, so I had to do his massive fucking cart, take it up, do it again, then do it again around the end of the night in addition to all the dishes of the lower floors. We never fucking got out on time. I've only ever worked in a restaurant once and it was a few weeks ago. One of my best friends owns an a small Italian place and he was short staffed one night so I came in to do dishes and polish wine glasses, clear a few tables when they needed it.

It was exhausting but a lot of fun. Chill dudes in the kitchen, chatting with super beautiful server with a lot of shared interests, eating meatballs and pasta, drinking expensive wine and espresso.

I work at home so it was a nice change to be in a social environment, but I wouldn't do it very often.

And once you've dishwashed at one high volume, late night weekend restaurant, you basically have a job that you can always get if shit falls apart in your life, since it is almost always the most posted job listing on Craigslist. The day was over after my hands would swell up and start to crack and bleed on the dishes. I walked out on them after 4 months and that was the third longest anyone has lasted there I was told.
