I guess you could use a pinch of salt instead but you really don't need to be that precise.

Unsalted butter is literally just another ploy by American corporations, just like Kosher salt. No one outside of America believes in the importance of unsalted butter.

The threshold at which people are able to taste salt is about 0.1% salinity by weight. In other words, changes in salinity less than 0.1% are practically undetectable. For comparison, the salinity of a typical savory dish is around 1.0 - 1.5%. A good taster might be able to tell the difference between an item with 1.0% salt and another with 1.1% salt if tasted side by side, but feed them one first and the other a few minutes later and they won't be able to tell the difference.

Salted butter is about 1.5% salt by weight. If the final dish consists of 7% salted butter, the salt in that butter will contribute an 0.1% increase in salinity, which is at the verge of being barely noticeable. 7% butter in the final product is already a fair amount and most dishes are unlikely to use more than 10%. Even with dishes that have a very high amount of butter, like very rich restaurant quality mashed potatoes in which the butter content could well be 20%, the salt contributed by the butter is 0.3% - which is enough to give a noticeable difference, but in general I'd say that if a dish is well-salted at 1.2%, an increase of 0.3% to 1.5% final salinity is still going to be tasty and not enough to make it unpalatably salty.

In short, in most recipes there's no appreciable difference between salted and unsalted, and even if you're using a lot of butter, it's still not going to be enough to oversalt a dish (unless it was already on the verge of oversalted).

Salted is for spreading on things and finishing sauces. Unsalted is for baking, brushing, and frying.
