wasn't there some old try about how the british navy replaced all their lemons with limes and the sailors started getting scurvy because limes had less vitamin c
i never checked if that was true or not but i don't want to do it now, i prefer just citing it as a useless factoid

For me lime is a bit sweet, or maybe because i associate lime with sugary stuff and lemon with salty/spicy foods.
Eitherways theyre both sour and loveable.

Other anon was right. There is something wrong with either your taste buds or the way your brain processes the data.

Limes are definitely more sour than lemons. Maybe the growth of those fruits is affected by the climate of you region, but in general limes not only are more acidic, but they also have less total sugar.

Yes, the pH of a lime is 1.8~2.0 while the pH of a lemon is 2.2~2.5.
Lower is more acidic.

yeah idk why people in this thread are saying that limes are less sour and more sweet.

They are pretty obviously more sour, more acidic, and less sweet. Have these people never taken a bite out of a lime wedge? The acid feels like it attacks your teeth.

the juices apparently have a similar pH. I guess the pith and rind are more acidic on a lime?

Regardless, a ripe lime should taste slightly sweeter than a ripe lemon, and the flavour and aroma between them should differ significantly - the lime should be more floral, with a slight note of bitterness. The lemon should taste like a lemon.
