I love Korean food

>> No.12055748

I just jarred up about 5,5lbs of homemade kimchi and I had spicy chicken and onion stirfry, bean-paste-braised eggplant, spicy cucumber salad and white rice for lunch, all homemade.
Now I'm at a loss for what to make for dinner.
Tomato soup and grilled cheese, I guess.

Nothing wrong with that, although fresh kimchi before it ferments is great as a side dish too, more like a spicy salad. Eat it with your tomato soup and grilled cheese.

I use to live next to this asian fusion restaurant that served tteokbokki with sirloin and bok choy but apparently they stopped serving it because too many people complained it wasn't actually tteokbokki since they didn't slather it in spicy red sauce and serve it with nothing. I've tried to make it at home a few times but it never comes out the same

has to do with their culinary tradition
-chinese eats lots of noodles and share dishes, so the chopsticks are longer than thicker to give better reach and allow you to pick up more noodles
-japanese eat lots of fish, so the tips are angled to allow you to pick out bones and meat.
-korean are usually flat and made of steel or silver, so it doesn’t roll off the table and is less wasteful of natural resources like timber (considering korea’s climate)

Traditional Korean chopsticks have always been wooden ones that are similar length to Japanese chopsticks.

The iconic stainless steel chopsticks, spoons, bowls, and cups you see everywhere in Korea today is a result of President Park encouraging the growth of S. Korean industrialization in the 1960s and 70s.
