The mutts don't get proper chips, no wonder they think it's shit.

>Hey Mary-Sue-Jane, why don't we'all try some of this here fruity Brit food for a change? How about one of these here 'chip butties'?
>Why Billy-Bob, that'd be just peachy.
>Assembles sugary bun, HFCS infused 'fries', and some red coloured HFCS/water combination.
>Mary-Sue-Jane, this is shit! Them Brits don't know nothin'. Now pass me muh shotgun, I can see a fly buzzing around here.

Pathetic and fruitless.
British "chips" were mediocre at best, by the way. Easier to find better fries in the states.

It's basically beer/tavern cheese. We just associate booze with Anglos, I suppose. My paternal line is scotch-irish, and they drank like fish.

I had a British friend growing up and his mom used to make us this dish that was basically a roasted head of cauliflower covered in a cheese sauce. It was fucking delicious but I've never been able to reproduce it. I can't find out what kind of cheese sauce or spread that was used to make it taste the same. The brits just call that "cauliflower cheese"

The cheese sause is just plain 'ol Mornay. Make bechamel, melt cheese into it. Same shit the Americans use for mac and cheese.

>>gravy for roasted potato dish
You did't specify what kind of gravy. Most likely this would have just been normal meat gravy made from the drippings of a roast. It's possible it was an instant product like bisto.
