I cook with it for select friends and family. The trick is rendering the marijuana down into very finally separated keif powder using a set of hash bags and dry ice to remove any bitter leaf material and dissolving that keif into olive oil. You don’t actually “cook” with it since the heat of cooking will destroy the THC. Pasta is easy, boil your noodles, drain the water and toss your pasta in the cannabis infused olive oil before topping it with whatever sauce you’re using. Steaks and chicken you can brush the oil on just as it comes out of the pan to rest. You better have a good tolerance though because there’s no real way to dose it so you kinda just get what you get.

never made my own brownies but in the age of concentrates, using herb to make cannabutter seems very inefficent and not very tasty. decarbing a gram or two of shatter on a cookie sheet seems way less of a hassle than boiling weed in butter for hours, and it would probably impart way less of a weed flavor. and throwing a gram of wax into a batch of cookies/brownies would probably get you way more fucked up

for mixing into drinks I bake it at 240 and then mix it with 500 ml of everclear, shake daily, an ounce of weed makes about 150 doses of a little high and 75 or so of being stoned. I measure in a dropper.

for butter I do it in a crock pot and then stain it with cheese cloth.

Both are easy and much more cost effective than smoking it. I don't know how it compares to vaping.

Edibles used to give me anxiety but I found I handle vaping/smoking it much better. Hits you quick and the effect goes away much more quickly so you don't feel "trapped" by the high, so to speak.

Never made cannabutter but I have used AVB in edibles before. Effectively, AVB has already been decarbed by the process of vaping so you can just infuse oils with it right out of your vape. You get to vape it and then eat it, pretty economical move and vaping the weed is better for you than smoking it. I don't have any specific recipes I've made myself since I tend to just make brownies. However, my roommate who's a major /out/doorsman adapted his recipe for "superbutter", a trail food where you just mix a bunch of trailmix type stuff into a jar of peanut butter and eat it while backpacking for a quick injection of calories, to include AVB. Essentially he took a couple big spoonfuls of peanutbutter out of the jar, added in some chocolate chips, peanuts, cinnamon, marshmallows, sunflower seeds, and normal butter, then stirred it all together. The only difference is he added like a full gram of AVB and let it sit and infuse for a day. One spoonful was enough to put even the most experienced stoner on his ass for 12 hours.

I haven't cooked with any yet, but once it's legal in NYC my brother and I wanna open a cafe that has at least some edibles on the menu. Of course we'd have the usual brownies and cookies, but we'd also try to make slightly more elevated desserts that actually use the herby flavor instead of trying to mask it. I'm thinking white chocolate cheesecake with cannabutter incorporated (kind of like a white chocolate/rosemary pairing), coconut bars with cannabis honey, etc.

Actually you can play around with a bunch of different classic cooking herbs and spices; I find that basil, for instance, plays well with the earthier tones of weed while also bringing out the floral notes of weed.
