have you tried grape leaves? You should. they're amazing. The middle easten students in my college sell them for fundraisers

they vary. literally every culture has their own version. Persian and Armenian are the best in my opinion because they have meat in them

mesopotamia and the caucasus share a lot of food influence with the 'mediterranean' diet. similar latitude and often shared political history. of course, there are differences. but there are differences between greece and spain, too.

that's indian food; looks like a stock picture from moby dicks kabob chain.

>> No.12014214

>>12014203
It is a stock picture from MD chain. Can anyone tell me what that fried tube on the left is? Or what substance is grated over the rice? Are those eggplants, or some kind of wonderful Middle-Eastern hush-puppie I don't know about? Are they weird-shaped falafel? What? It's called a "chicken combo" plate.

>> No.12014230

>>12014214
the combo plate is any 2 kinds of meat, the right side is definitely chicken, the meat tube could be anything. on the rice it's some kind of butter sauce. I don't see any eggplants; those white things are most likely a cheese or tofu.

>> No.12014258

>>12014230
>on the rice it's some kind of butter sauce

No way. It's saffron (or more likely, an imitation product). Persian rice always has some kind of spice added to it to give it that yellow color. Rice with butter looks totallly different.

>>12014298
Ya we use either saffron or turmeric.

>> No.12014330

>>12014270
It's not a sauce poured over rice. What you're seeing is rice that's been colored with saffron or turmeric being served over the regular rice. Just google "Persian rice" and you'll understand. There is no butter involved here.

>> No.12014332

>>12014319
It's not a sauce tard. After the rice is done cooking we take a small portion of the rice and mix it saffron water then put the saffron infused rice ontop of the white rice.
