When I was a kid and my cousins were visiting we'd go to the Sizzler (in Australia) and they had ice cream machines, a couple of my cousins had a contest and ate 20 bowls. We went ham.

Nah, it's just wasteful. Sure it's fun to watch it grow like a steamin' pile a shit but when you sit down and begin to dig into it it slowly becomes a chore, especially when it starts to melt and get all sad and soupy.

Used to be the closing manager for a McDicks back in the early 2000's before social media and everything turning to shit and no fun allowed. They basically didn't give a shit what we did as long as the story didn't burn to the ground. Was pretty slow most of the time so we had to come up with a lot of ways to entertain ourselves.

Related to topic we came up with a tallest cone contest and I won by taking three cones and taping them together with some electrical tape into a triangle shape and making one ultra mega cone. I think we measured it and it was at least 3 feet tall and probably weighed at least 5 lbs.
I miss those days, was the best time of my life looking back on it.

I was there just last year. If I remember correctly, this particular ice cream vendor is nearest MRT Ximen entrance/exit 6, a straight shot from metro. The KFC is fairly central

I live in Taiwan for 14 years. So nothing really surprise me anymore. I'd say things in the south like Tainan is sweeter. Most food are blend yea I think so and they have to use sauce or others things to give it a stronger flavor.

If you have a chance to go back. Try their beef noodle, most of them have a heavier flavor, it's the only think I miss eating.

My fav beef noodle joint is Liu ShanDong

Not a bad trip from where I was, way out in the Xinzhuang district. I regret not spending more time exploring the food options but after about six months, nothing was really "new" or "exciting" in terms of food. I hit up the night markets enough to enjoy what they had but that only went so far.

Damn I get diarrhea 2 times from night market. I end up avoiding it. If you want more traditional Taiwanese food. You can travel outside Taipei next time. English will be a problem outside Taipei but you will have a higher chance to eat authentic food by just wondering around. Taipei do have some good authentic food but will need some searching.
