/DEENZ/ THREAD, REPORT IN NIGGAS
My local store just started carrying these, and said that they'd consider ordering more King Oscar products if I assured that I would be a consistent customer, and I'm genuinely considering it. What other King Oscar products would you fine fellows recommend?

And otherwise, deenz thread boys, start reporting in

They're not really comparable. Anchovies have to be used as an ingredient, whereas sardines can be eaten straight. You can't top a piece of toast with anchovies and then chow down, it would be way too salty. Anchovies are used in much smaller quantities, maybe 3 or 4 tiny fillets per dish, which is enough to imbue whatever you're making with a nice savory flavor.

Although, this only applies to cured anchovy fillets like in your pic. If you look hard enough you can actually find whole un-cured anchovies, which are very similar to sardines. No one talks about those though.

They are really fucking good, but you can have some made at any place that smokes fish for you.
What makes them so great isn't some recipe or big secret, it's just that they are smoked slowly and perfectly which is too expensive to mass produce which explains the price tag and why they're not shipped internationally despite demand.
Any traditional artisan smoker will be able to easily reproduce them if you just tell them you want the fish smoked for 7 days.

Trust me, as long as it's high quality fish professionally smoked the brand name doesn't matter at all.
