Pigs usually attract a LOT of illness, especially under warm weather. That's why jews and muslims choosed to ban pork meat (even cooked) in their religion. For that time, it was a good decision. Christians didn't because under cold weather porks parasites and illness were less numerous.

But now we don't farm like we use to do. Pigs are pumped full of meds and antibiotics. You actually eat some of them when you consume pig meat, especially raw (but you have to be a Kraut to do that). It's not a good idea because your body get used to said antibiotic and they lose their effectiveness.
