>What's your usual list?
I've gotten pretty lazy, but I usually just keep beans, eggs, carrots, potatoes, onions, some protein like ground beef or chicken, and fruit from where I work.
>What stores do you like to go to?
I work at Whole Foods so I generally buy my fruit there, but I go to King Soopers for everything else. However, I kind of want to start shopping at Sprouts.
>What are you planning on making this week?
not sure, I haven't been to the store this week
>How are the prices?
Could be better, I feel like King Soopers has been jacking up the price of their meats
>Other tips, tricks, etc?
Make the trip to go to other grocery stores if you can

They're not bad, we have two where I live. I've never done my full shopping there, but I'd say it satisfies a similar niche that Sprouts does but is like how Whole Foods used to be in terms of variety. Prices seem to be similar to Sprouts too. Some good deals, but you'll really only come out ahead if you shop the sales. I think they sell a whole rotisserie chicken for like 4 or 5 bucks every Wednesday, which is a pretty slick deal

No pride about it, but they do have some products such as El Pato sauce, and El Yucotech hot sauces, and other things that are packaged products. They're simply for less money than I can get in local supermarkets. So I should support a local supermarket that was just doing the same damn thing as walmart but on a smaller scale. I get to a walmart maybe once a year. So I stock up.

I live across the street from a vons / rite aid. I don't need to be that frugal, but it's a good mental exercise to keep control of what I'm doing. I'm /fit/ so working to control my diet through cooking while learning to make tasty foods is why I'm on /ck/ to learn how to use unprocessed foods. I check the weekly add and plan around the cheap proteins. Trying to get my diet to nearly 100% whole food with the exception of some carbs (pasta, bread). I always check the sale aisles, picked up fresh baked bagels for two bucks today and they had cream cheese on sale + a coupon for a buck fifty.

Right now I'm learning to buy up grocery on sale (box/canned), and freeze meat batch cooking days. After I get that going I'm hoping to get into food fermenting and working with better ingredients.

>Sack of potatoes
>Sack of green apples -- lunch each workday
>100% whole wheat bread, two loafs -- breakfast/lunch each workday
>Organic peanut butter (no hydrogenated oil), the kind you have to mix up -- breakfast/lunch each workday
>Five bananas -- breakfast each workday

I tend to think that it's synchronized, so that while some grocery store will have something on sale, it'll be considered a loss leader to draw people in while they've raised prices on other things.
Then the next grocery store will do the same but in a different way, with the same goal, to draw people in using a loss leader. It just goes round and round, like from the Steve Miller band, abracababra.

Depends on the area friend.
Ever been to a ghetto Publix? It's almost surreal

>What's your usual list?
Depends. The weekly buys revolves around a mixture of vegetables (onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, rice, lentils, beans), fruits (primarily berries, lemons and apples), rye bread if I feel like it, honey/maple syrup, eggs, cheese and meat. Monthly is restocking spices that run out, buying flour, oats, sugar, or going to Jungle Jim's and buying imported stuff and unusual things you can't get usually get here in 513.
>What stores do you like to go to?
I go to Kroger since it's right next to where I live. If I want something that isn't available there I go to Jungle Jim's.
>What are you planning on making this week?
I made plov to last me the whole week yesterday since I've exams coming up and I don't want to actually cook anything, so I'll just reheat everything. Last one was oats, spice restock, chicken thighs and breast, eggs, cheese, honey, lemons, berries, cooking wine, rice, mushrooms.
>How are the prices?
Pretty good, actually.
>Other tips?
Don't buy brand stuff unless it's cheaper than the off-brand stuff. Have an exact list of what you'd like to buy. Go by foot and use a backpack plus carry bags - you can only buy as much as you can carry.

>>What's your usual list?
About the only thing I buy consistently is milk and oatmeal for breakfast. Everything else depends on the season.

>>What stores do you like to go to?
I do most of my shopping at HEB. I also visit the local farmer's market, butcher, Asian market, and Indian/Desi market. I also visit a "Signature" Kroger, exclusively for their cheese section but I don't buy anything else there because otherwise HEB has a better selection and better prices.

>>What are you planning on making this week?
Masaman curry, potato soup with venison sausage on the side, chicken tortilla soup, pork ribs with beans, beer can chicken with cornbread, grilled squash soup, mapo tofu. Plus misc. salads/sandwiches.

>>How are the prices?
Excellent.

>>Other tips, tricks, etc?
Real food looks like pic related--it doesn't have a brand name on it. Buy ingredients like this and cook from scratch wherever possible, it saves money and it's usually a lot healthier too. Also, whenever you buy meat, fish, or poultry buy the largest possible cut. E.e. whole chickens instead of breasts, whole fish instead of fillets, bone-in roasts instead of boneless, etc. That saves you money, and it gives you materials to make stock from.
