I live in upstate New York and watched a video about garbage plates and no amount of editing could save the serving process from looking any less gross and visually appalling, literally just vats of liquid chili grease. Oh and the guy in the video claimed that he copyrighted the garbage plate as if he thought he was the only person in America who could throw a bunch of rotten meat into a septic pond of condiments and hash browns, the part pissed me off

Still decided to try one from a local diner and big surprise I wanted to kill myself as soon as I realized what this sewage was going to do to my stomach

I'm not a huge fan of Tex-Mex at all, especially the cumin. I consider that highly offensive. My mom cooks the best Mexican food I've ever eaten aside from a few places in Mexico that I tried. She makes meatballs with egg quarters inside as well as tons of lima bean dishes. She'll spend an entire day making authentic mole. Also she makes home made green sauce better than anything you can get in a jar. Her seafood soup is creme de la creme. She never uses canned crap aside from maybe chipotles and that mold from corn. I can't eat the corn mold though. I tried, and it was not for me even though I can eat almost anything including pan fried larva. I just tried a new Mexican restaurant that my husband was dying to try, and the enchiladas gave me the shits for days. I've never had bowel issues from Mexican food, so I really wonder what that restaurant put in those enchiladas.

Speking of the region, I can name three fastfood monstrosities outright that are absolute and utter trash and crimes against cuisine:

-The Swedish margharita topped with salad and fries and/or kebab.
-The Lappish pizza drenched in mayo-like substances.
-The Finnish "kebab wrap" with blue cheese.

Strictly only when drunk.

The latter has went through the same kind of development as burgers, hot dogs and tacos that the they've completely lost the ability to be eaten "to go", but in all fairness this can be said about the legendary german kebab buns too, but at least those come served in a cone, while the wrap comes in foil.

ok, here in bay area we have fantastic carne asada and carnitas burritos, with toasted flour tortillas, whole beans, and flavorful mexican rice. but we also have what i call the Ghetto Burrito, i cant even find a picture of the damn thing. Las Palmas makes them in Oakland. a huge flour tortilla, possibly not even steamed, let alone grilled, stuffed with refried beans (no flavor) ground beef (no flavor) grated cheese, sour cream (way too much), and maybe some bland salsa, and UNFLAVORED WHITE RICE. they are huge, bland, goopy, horrid defective monstrosities, and if this is what blakpypo think mexican food is, they are fucked. id rather eat a taco bell bean and cheese burrito, its not trying to pass itself as anything but. this restaurant has thick plastic security screens to avoid being jacked up, and bars on the windows, and also serve that horrible overly breaded fried catfish everyone loves. oakland is a food desert in some areas (though they also have the best mex around)
