So basically I was trying to cut meat out of my diet and ate a lot of vegan foods for the last 6 months. I even made it through the Superbowl without eating meat... But today I was at the grocery store and they had this perfect looking steak which was around $3 bucks (I know Canadians reading this will be so envious) so I bought it and cooked it. No sides, no seasoning except a little bit of salt and once I started eating it, it felt like the most delicious gourmet food ever. I'm literally in heaven right now and feel so good. I think I'm gonna treat meat like that from now on. An luxury item. Like a fine expensive wine or whiskey every now and then.

Can anyone else relate to this experience of abstaining from certain foods? And when you eat it after a long time it feels like heaven? I think I'm gonna try doing this with all foods now. Not eating pasta for a couple of months for instance... or a certain fruit or vegetable. This way I can have a pretty big variety of foods entering my body instead of just eating my favorite foods all the time.

>eating my favorite foods all the time
I think that it doesn't work that way. My favorite is not as good after two or three of it in a row.

exactly. That's why most diets fail. People stick to one food and then just get tired of it. The secret is to spice it up a little.

I used to be addicted to diet soda, like 12 cans a day
For the last two weeks I've had nothing but meat salt oil and water and I took a sip of diet Dr pepper the other day and couldn't stand it
Abstaining from things definitely makes your taste buds normalize

Yuck

I'm having my monthly steak today. It's a highly marbled prime skirt steak that cost $23 a pound. I brushed it with balsamico DOP and a little bit of double black soy sauce

Steak is ultimately pretty boring but if you have it rarely enough it can be enjoyable. Monthly is pushing it but rampant carnism has made it annoying for me to have enough variety in my animal flesh without exceeding my 1xweekly limit

I was on a diet of just protein bars and water for a while. Then had a chicken quesadilla from Chilis, and it was amazing to me while family who wasn't on diet said meh. it is the lack of sugar/fatty foods that re heighten taste.

I do that now. Except instead of every 6 months, I have a steak every 6 days. I get the same feeling as you had and whisper softly to my steak "I missed you, friend" as a tear runs down my cheek.

If you eat liver you feel great afterwards, and you don't really have to abstain from eating it.

Years back I decided not to eat meat, can't even remember why. After a while when I walked passed fast food joints and smelled the food, I almost felt bad. After 6-8months or so I got drunk, on the way home got past a kebab place. Yep. I ate one. Never looked backed since.

Never understood those all out, force myself into suffering types. Those who drop smoking, drinking eating meat or whatever their "sin" is. Why instead of totally dropping you dont limit meat to one or two meals per week? Or make sure that every meal has at least 70% of plants.

The idea of "abstaining" from foods sounds fucking stupid.
So does the idea of eating the same thing consistently. I doubt I cook the same dish more than once every 2-3 months, excluding breakfast.

Are you literally retarded? Also, Anyone can cherry pick anorexic people from either the vegan or non-vegan community. For the record, I'm a 6'1" male who is physically active and at perfect competition weight for my sport of choice. This was the case both before and after going vegan. It's called eating the correct number of calories for your body/goals. It has nothing to do with plants vs meat. I'll bet you blame meat consumption for your obesity too.
