I mean it's fucking pizza, there are specialized ovens just for cooking this shit that do all the work, all you have to do is make the dough according to pretty simple instructions and then put toppings on it and they still fuck it up.

How can people be this stupid?
Self-sabotage.
You don't have to throw that much out.
The reason you throw food out is because you have a giant meme menu full of bullshit that no one orders much of and you have to prep it all in the faint chance anyone ever orders it and then you end up with a freezer full of crap.

If your idea of cutting costs to stay open is freezing food then you're already dead.

Hey buddy, not who you are replying to but let me clear some of this up for you.
> Don't throw away food
Food will be thrown away in every restaurant. Management will almost always have a rule that mistakes need to be thrown away or reused for another order if possible. This is to deter staff from "accidents" that would let them get whatever food they want.
> Don't freeze your food
It's a dark secret of the industry but unless you are at an extremely elite restaurant you can never expect it all to be fresh. I work at an upscale restaurant in DC that freezes desserts and uses various pre made mixes or sauces. People pay upwards of 40 dollars per entree. This is due to a variety of issues including payroll budget, volume of business, and integrity of the cook.

To be clear, I'm a bartender not a cook and I agree that staff should get free food. I've certainly gone hungry more than once at work before. I just wanted to clarify the way things work for you. I kind of agree with you, I prefer fresh over frozen when eating
That being said, we don't get enough orders for things like soup and lasagne for a batch to be gone through every few days
90% of our menu is more popular, and is cooked to order(e.g. pasta), or at the start of the shift(slow cooked ribs)
If we didn't freeze the 10% of the menu that doesn't fit into these categories, those items would not be on the menu as they would not be commercially viable
Also of note is that our soup is still better then 100% of supermarket soups, and better then 95% of what home cooks could make
