It's not a legend. Drinking a ton of soda and little water gives you kidney stones.

This happened to me when I was fucking 20 because I drink nothing but diet coke and it was the worst pain I think I have ever felt. If you drink lots of soda/tea try to work lemon juice into your diet somehow, it apparently helps break up the stones.

Passed one about this size a couple years back, took about a week to pass it. The last three days were spent on my bathroom floor completely out of it; sweating, feverish and having hallucinations/delusions. The pain was truly transcendent and unlike anything I've experienced. After passing I pissed brown fluid for two weeks and it took nearly 6 months for the pain/burning in my peehole to subside.

There are retards out there that only drink when they eat.
Its more not enough water than too much soda.
That said, separate from stones, you should drink a lot more water than you drink soda.
Mostly cause consuming less sugar in general is a good idea so your cells don't lose their insulin receptors fast.

Used to drink a ton of the stuff. Was obese mostly because of the extra calories from it.

Switched to sugar-free, not that it's necessarily harmless, but I like to think it's the lesser evil.

>Jesus, why didn't you seek medical attention if it was that bad?
He might have gone to a doctor and that still been the outcome to pass it on your own. They often bust up the stones with laser unless it's found they simply must do that. They usually send you home with pain meds and try to see if you can pass it naturally. My brother was on the floor in 3 days of pain while his wife was delivering their baby in the hospital. It was a chaotic week, to say the least for their entire family.

There are some known assists for getting them faster, if they have formed in your past: such as certain drug side effects, metabolizing medications via the kidneys, kidney disease, etc. Taking daily calcium is one of the big risks, as is Vitamin C in megadoses, like people who pop Tums, people who take too many supplements. People who have eat large amounts of oxalate rich foods like spinach, bran, nuts, legumes, and so a health kick can be a trigger as can a holiday of excessive nuts and rich foods. Extreme dieting, like high protein diets can create a problem in the kidneys, sometimes quite serious.

JUST DRINK SUFFICIENT WATER.

It's also genetics as well... because it's the same with any sort of disease where minerals can build up in parts of the body. Gout, gallstones, etc. are all from the bodies inability to break down certain minerals the body takes in, usually it's because of a faulty organ or gland, a symptom of another disease.

When I was 25 my doctor basically told me I'm going to get gout when I am older because I've had on and off signs of it in my medical records.

Nothing I can do about it, it's just in my genetics and it's probably something to do with my gallbladder, which has history in my family. Getting old sucks.
