>be me
>always have a bottle of Mad Dog 357 Gold Edition in the fridge
>still me, come home today from work
>mom says, "Jordan there was a hot sauce incident today"
>she moved my sauce in the fridge to make room for some coffee creamer or something
>I guess there was some traces of spice on the outside of the bottle
>she got it in her eye and said it was the worst pain and then she poured the Mad Dog in the sink and threw it away
>Bring up my bottle of Ultra Death from the basement and put it in the fridge instead
Feels bad man, that sauce is my favorite sauce and tastes way better than other sauces around the same spice level

She thought something was wrong with it, I guess she didn't really understand just how how this stuff can get. I'm not mad or anything I really feel bad that it happened to her but wanted to post about it here

>hey this stuff is painful to touch!
>well maybe if you put it in your mouth it won't be so bad
>fuck this is even worse and now I can't taste any food
>imma go buy more
Any time I see someone putting spices on my food, I just throw it away and ask them to make it again. There's literally no reason to self-inflict pain like that.

Not op but I mix it in a soup or a roux.
Its nice to add to a sauce base too if you want to amp the spice without too much flavour change.

>> No.11813381

>>11813373
That's where you'd just use pepper extract. The sauce in OP has a very strong flavor.

I got that shit in my eye in 7th grade band class. Absolutely horrible pain. Tasted it many years later. Like damn near every hot sauce that prides itself on being insanely hot, it tasted like shit. Yeah, it's hot, but there is literally nothing interesting about the flavor. There's nothing inherently wrong with being super hot, but at least make your sauce taste distinct.

Why would you ever keep hot sauce in the fridge? That will make it colder.

>> No.11813993

>>11813984
>>11813989
also the taste is excellent, it tastes and smells like reapers more than anything else and the metallic flavor of the extract is pretty well masked by garlic and shit. That's how I know you never tried this sauce

>> No.11813998

>>11813991
some bottles say to refrigerate and I'm too lazy to keep up with which does or does not say so I keep most of them in there. I think sauces with either lots of fresh peppers or very little to no vinegar are supposed to go in there but idk.

Being cold doesn't really change the flavor too much and if you put it on warm food it warms up quickly.

Hey Jordan, how does Mad Dog 357 compare to Dave's Insanity?

I've only had Dave's Scorpion and I never had the regular Mad Dog 357, just Silver and Gold

That said, Dave's Scorpion isn't that hot but it's very tasty and has that classic scorpion taste and smell. Very nice on egg.

kid i know youre only in 9th grade so i dont blame you but dont refrigerate your hot sauce
it preserves itself and the cold makes it lose its flavor just store it in a dark place like a good wine

here's a pretty picture for you zoomers and millennials since reading is hard with out something shiny attached

I was eating El Yucateo and diced serranos on like everything this week... and my tolerance went up. Tonight Ive been gently applying Daves Insanity on pizza. I just went back to the El Yucateo and its not even spicy anymore kek.

yep and you reach a point where you start chasing that spice dragon and you can't find it again. The feeling after eating something hella hot is literally almost like a high it feels great. My spice chase eventually led me to buying reapers and eating some. Holy fuck the stomach pain, but I don't hate the reapers for it. Respect to those little bastards though

Chillifag and slightly sciencefag here. Keep spices n shit in the fridge. Capsaicin (and other compounds that cause taste and aroma in spices/herbs) are volatile, meaning they are prone to evaporate. If you keep the sauce out of the fridge then it will lessen in heat over time more quickly, I've seen it happen with many of my bottles. You ever been cooking a chilli or something stupidly hot, and started coughing when the heat hits the back of your throat as you stir it? Can you smell any of your herbs by sniffing the bottle? Shit's evaporating yo, put in fridge.
