Why are soy lattes so popular when soy milk tastes disgusting? Why don't people use a tastier lactose alternative like almond milk?

>> No.11798633

Soy milk tastes good, and it's cheap.

I don't drink it though because estrogen.

I like regular whole milk a lot, but I have tried both soy milk and almond milk in the past out of curiosity. And I'm ashamed to admit I thought the soy milk tasted really fucking great. The almond milk gave me a bad aftertaste and also didn't sit well stomach-wise later on. If it weren't for the estrogen meme I don't think anyone would have a legitimate reason to knock that soy stuff (Silk was the brand I think, with a vanilla flavor).

>> No.11798685

some virieties of soy milk taste almost identical to dairy milk, to me.
and for some reason almond milk just doesn't work in coffee. you'd expect the nutty flavour to pair well with nutty coffee but it simply doesn't. at least for my linking.

>And?
What do you mean "and?"
>What do phytoestrogens do?
Phyto- is a prefix meaning plant. Phytoestrogens are xenoestrogens produced by plants. Xenoestrogens are xenohormones. Xenohormones are compounds that are structurally and functionally similar to endogenous hormones. Xenoestrogens are structurally and functionally similar to estrogen in particular. Phytoestrogens are structurally and functionally similar to estrogen while also coming from plants. Estrogen is the primary female sex hormone. It's also an antigonadotropin meaning it inhibits the HPG (hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal) axis. The HPG axis produces androgens. Suppressing the HPG axis suppresses androgens. Androgens are male hormones. The primary androgen is testosterone.

PS: At least in flaxseed, the purported phytoestrogens are lignans, which are carbs – oil mitigates this. Also, omega 3s are evidenced benefiting telomere lengths; and fish oil, oxidation unto reduced amounts of EPA and DHA than what's listed – so, flaxseed oil is a great method of getting n-3 fatty acids (depending on other dietaries).

Soy was heavily promoted as some sort of a "superfood" by big agra for a brief period of time. Many vegans fell for that meme. It's also cheap enough for people living on welfare.

The real one costs a lot, and would go bad within 1-2 days. Also not as tasty as most people would like. Granted, real soy milk also tastes bad. The ones sold at the supermarket has a lot of sugar and flavorings added to make it bearable.

Are you trying to make a very retarded analogy for why phytoestrogens don't contain estrogen? Did anyone claim phytoestrogens contain estrogen in the first place? I'm pretty sure the only thing claimed about them is that they're functionally and structurally similar to endogenous estrogen, which is true. And "phytoestrogen" doesn't have anywhere close to a misleading etymology, it was coined in the 20th century for the specific purpose of referring to non-estrogen compounds that have functional and structural similarities to endogenous estrogen.
