If you are making big batches, yes.

They cost like $10. If you make tortillas once a month it's worth it.

if you have 2 cast iron skillets, one 10 inch and 1 8 inch, then just sandwich the tortillas inbetween

Convincing advertisement. Well executed.

Now I'm in the market. I make bean and egg burritos often and fajitas at least once a month.

just get an electric one.

They'll save you a lot of trouble, and if you have some masa kicking around it'd be pretty cool to just whip up tortillas whenever you want. You can let the dough ferment in your fridge, it only becomes more awesome.

If you give it a start and then fridge it, it will continue to sour and ferment over time just like sourdough.

If you cook a lot of mexican food it's well worth it. The flavor and texture of a fresh tortilla is far superior.

Maybe if you're a retard. I lived in CDMX for 2 years and literally nobody did that. I'll bet you open bottles by bashing them on the edge of the kitchen counter.

only once senpai and I was drunk

is not like everyone has a tortilla press in México, if you happen to want to make tortillas you just use 2 pans, were you staying with an average mexican family?

Hand formed tortillas always taste better. Honestly, you can tell the difference, tortillas should not he perfectly flat.

If you want to talk about "average people" you would be buying them in bulk. It's like pasta makers, most people do not own them, but if you make your own pasta, you probably do.

I got one and it doesnt make them as thin as i would like so i end up pressing them with it then rolling em out. It does make it easier though and beats using two pans to smash them .

I expect homemade tortillas when I go out, but at home? Fuck it.

>> No.11786911

masa is like 2$ for a 5 lb bag and takes 15 minutes max for a huge batch if you have a press. the only ingredients are the masa, water and salt and you almost can't fuck up mixing it.
