Problem is i guess especially in the US, there are food deserts and places that natural foods like fruits and vegetables and normal meat is very expensive compared to junk food.
Compared to the UK here, where i can get a kg of carrots for 0.69p, mozorella for 0.45p, 4 chicken thighs + drums for £2, spinatch for 70p, 1kg of broccoli for £1, canned sardines/mackrael for £0.45p, 1litre milk for less than £1, 1kg of oats for 0.75p, 1kg rice for £0.45p.
