Salt is salt.
Pros: looks cool, similar density to kosher salt
Cons: expensive, similar density to kosher salt

So its not different than normal salt? I saw that it was pretty cheap so I bought it

It was $4 for 1 kg so I bought it

also con: can sometimes be gritty
I got a trader joe's grinder of it at some point and it was almost unusable except as pasta water salt because was like eating sand if I ground it over food

Probably because the craze for pink salt lamps is dying off and they're all being ground up and served.

Yes my dude! I bought it because Trader Joe’s pepper grinders are top notch and this shit is fucking useless. 3/10 overall

>> No.11760604

pro you. you are one step closer towards getting that salt snob gf you always wanted

>> No.11760718

I bought a grinder of it precisely because it was the only salt grinder in the store with a removable cap.

It's literally dirty salt, 98% sodium chloride and 2% other things (mainly iron oxide, called also rust).
The "beneficial" minerals are in a too little quantity to be useful and there are traces of toxic heavy metals, like cadmium and lead. You got memed in buying that stupid thing.

There *might* be a small amount of naturally occurring iodine, but it'll be less than the amount you need to prevent shit like goiters and deficiency induced retardation if you aren't already happening to eat foods that have lots of iodine content in them (and a lot of people aren't with some six hundred million bad enough to display obvious symptoms like goiters growing on their neck).
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/315081.php
>Although pink Himalayan salt may naturally contain some iodine, it most likely contains less iodine than iodized salt. Therefore, those who have iodine deficiency or are at risk of deficiency may need to source iodine elsewhere if using pink salt instead of table salt.
http://www.pathologyoutlines.com/topic/thyroidendemicgoiter.html
>Over 1/3 of world population live in iodine deficient area; 1.6 billion are at risk of iodine deficiency; 655 million have goiter
>inb4 you're covered by tap water:
http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/dwq/chemicals/iodine.pdf
>The mean concentration of total iodine in drinking-water in the USA is 4 µg/litre and the maximum concentration is 18 µg/litre.
https://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Iodine-Consumer/
>How much iodine do I need?
>Adults - 150 mcg
>Am I getting enough iodine?
>Certain groups of people are more likely than others to have trouble getting enough iodine:
>People who do not use iodized salt.
>Adding iodine to salt is the most widely used strategy to control iodine deficiency.
>inb4 this is just some modern meme and not a problem ancient people had:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3169859/
>Goiter has always been a disease of immense interest of the general population due to its widespread prevalence. It is one of the most common medical problems portrayed in ancient paintings.
tl;dr just use the normal iodized table salt. This is the most common and easiest to prevent deficiency, just fucking use the iodized salt.

>> No.11760845

Pros: Avoids the risk of microplastics from sea/table salt.

Cons: Harder to find in rural areas, sometimes a tad more expensive.

i can get regular salt for 0.2 eurobucks per kilo, so 4 for a kilo is pretty expensive

>> No.11762265

Pros: pink, not poisonous
Cons: it's regular salt, expensive, it doesn't even come from hymalaya
