Do foreigners (especially Latinos) not like peanut butter? All that I’ve met get disgusted about it.

>> No.11745404

Europeans tend to dislike it. Southeast Asians love peanut sauce, so they probably like peanut butter. It would be pretty ironic if Latinos hate it, given that it was invented by Mesoamericans.

Because they're too lazy to figure out how to make actually good peanut butter.

If you ever go to Europe try their peanut butter. It's fucking atrocious. So rather than being actual fucking productive humans and thinking "oh we should improve on this" they just assume all peanut butter is bad.

I literally sometimes just take a big spoonful of peanut butter (smooth of course) and lick it like it were a spoon of the smoothest tastiest icecream. Crunchy peanut butter lacks the richness and unctuous texture that I love about smooth peanut butter.

The really weird thing is Europeans like nutella, cookie butter, and a lot of different weird "spreads", yet they still hate peanut butter. Making it a rare case where Americans choose a healthier option, because penut butter is a lot more nutritious than cookie butter and such.

That's only if you buy the really cheap basic bitch brands like Skippy or Peter Pan. Just take a second to read the damn ingredients list. You can get natural peanut butter with no added bullshit at pretty much any grocery store down to a bumblefuck general store (who might have extra fresh homemade peanut butter with nothing added).

I dont know why Euros who travel in the US insist on buying the shittiest pleb tier brands we have, then declaring our food sucks. I'm pretty sure our food is already cheaper than theirs on average, so why are they penny pinching when it comes to the food?

Eurofag here. Not everyone dislikes peanut buttter. I would guess 50% do, while the rest generally like it.
Personally I dislike it. It's not so much the taste but more the consistancy. Unlike other spreads, it sticks in your mouth like Tar, and dries it out.

I'm not passing a value judgement on it but personally I stay clear of it. Mayby its because I didn't try it until adulthood.

Based on my extensive research of Youtube videos with the topic "[Person from Country of origin] tries American candy," I have noticed the following trends:

Seems mixed in Australia. Some like it, some are pissed off that "Americans stick peanut butter in every candy."

Asians tend to think peanut butter is weird, but a few are obsessed and think it's the greatest thing ever

Germans find it polarizing. They either absolutely love it or absolutely hate it.

Brits seem to like it.

Seeing as how peanut butter is a mesoamerican invention, I don't imagine they dislike it.

My family's been in the US for at least four generations (probably more, but I'm not one of those ancestry autists who would know about it that far into the past), European (German) ethnicity, and I can't understand the appeal to peanut butter. I've tried making myself eat it more than a few times just because it seems like something that's supposed to be really good to incorporate into your diet that gets enough praise from people to make me think I should be able to like it too.
But every time it starts out kind of tasting OK but then leaving me with a feeling like I've been poisoned.
>inb4 I was using the wrong kind of peanut butter
I've tried the most stereotypical / generic Jif peanut butter, the basic plain kind like Smucker's Natural, the higher end organic stuff like Peanut Butter & Co., the store brand shit like Trader Joe's, etc. So no, I'm not just having some reaction to an added artificial ingredient or a poor quality brand or whatever. It's peanut butter in itself.
In contrast I love salt to the point where I've never even encountered a case where I felt a food was too salty. I notice salt is used heavily with peanut butter to try to make it more palatable and sodium and potassium have some sort of opposing relationship with one another, with peanuts being a potassium heavy food. You see something similar with V8 juice where the regular version is heavily salted to try to balance out a very potassium heavy drink. So my tentative head canon is that people who don't like peanut butter like myself might be more geared towards operating with a higher sodium to potassium ratio compared to people who do like it.
