"Cooking is feminine" is a dumb meme that existed because men were too dumb/lazy to notice that most women are awful cooks.

While women have, on average, a keener sense of smell, they have a weaker sense of taste compared to men. This is because, unlike olfactory bulbs, tastebuds need to be 'calibrated'. And, since women are unadventurous and generally risk-averse, they don't like to try unknown things. Men not only eat more, they eat more varied on average.
