Well, how much do you drink? I'd like to drink more but I'm worried about over hydration.

More than 6 cups per day is too much. Less than 6 cups per day is too little. 6 cups is just the right amount.

Unironically true. By drinking water a gamer ends up not eating which means if they game long enough they will effectively fast and their body will burn fat to fuel their gaming habits.

Almost never drank cold or room temp beverages. Startee drinking mostly water a few months ago. No real change in anything besids I have to pee more. Complexion is the same, hair is the same, alertness and sleep no change. Everything from bp to bilirubin same. Drinking more water does absolutely nothing.

i used to hate drinking water. would drink a lot of soda instead. over time i cut out soda by adding ice to water. dont know why that helped, but i lost a few pounds. nowadays i probably have 5+ cups of water a day and no soda. it's enjoyable now even without the ice.

You have to drink a rather extreme amount of water to overhydrate. Its nearly impossible because you simply won't want to drink anymore after awhile.

It depends on what's meant by "overhydrate." It's very unlikely you'll get anywhere close to the potentially fatal status of "water intoxication" that periodically causes marathon runners or water drinking contest participants to die. It's not that unlikely on the other hand that you'll do other not great things to your body though if you force yourself to drink lots of extra water to meet some bullshit daily requirement amount.

>Medical myths
>The advice to drink at least eight glasses of water a day can be found throughout the popular press. One origin may be a 1945 recommendation that stated: A suitable allowance of water for adults is 2.5 liters daily in most instances. An ordinary standard for diverse persons is 1 milliliter for each calorie of food. Most of this quantity is contained in prepared foods. If the last, crucial sentence is ignored, the statement could be interpreted as instruction to drink eight glasses of water a day.

>Drinking two liters of water per day may not benefit most individuals and even could be harmful, investigators say.
>At the Canadian Society of Nephrology annual meeting here, re-searchers from the University of Western Ontario, also in London, presented a study showing a significant correlation between excess urine production—which is usually caused by excess fluid intake—and proteinuria.
>The large population-based study uncovered a five-fold higher risk of proteinuria among people with polyuria than among those with normal urine volume, even after taking into account such factors as age, sex, and estimated glomerular filtration rate.
Aside from making protein leak through your kidneys, the main nonfatal but still not very good effect of forcing yourself to drink lots of extra water each day is you're flushing out electrolytes. Best approach is to simply drink when you're thirsty.

There aren't many drinks that *don't* get you almost exactly the same amount of hydration as plain water (e.g. alcohol). You're also getting tons of water just from eating food. Orange juice is perfectly fine. Drinking anything at a rate of two to three liters a day is excessive, but it isn't going to kill you. Not sure why you would drink that much in the first place but there you go.
