Man, I used to love whisky, but I can't drink anymore. I just can't stand the taste of alchohol for some reason, don't know what happened. I tried a beer over the holidays and wish I hadn't. I just smoke pot now and can't imagine drinking again, but I do miss those days, they were fun

You'll grow out of it. Sounds like you're body is starting to reject it a bit.
I suggest if you wanna stop just stick to beer and you'll start feeling like shit if you chronically drink it. How I quit, well cut back, by a lot.

If you're over 35 then its probably not killing you. Before the body starts to shut down from alcohol related problems it needs to become dependent on the stuff.

Usually a chronic drinker will go through stages of rejection before that happens. In a last ditch effort to get you to stop poisoning yourself before shit hits the fan. The body does this will all kinds of foods if you eat or drink to much of anything.

The worst was that the sharehlders wanted it as demonstrated by the orgasming of share prices, But daddy gubmint was watching, the hostile takeover was eventually blocked by the SEC so it all worked out. Stock prices were depressed for a few years but a turnaround expert was hired and the company got a bunch of shitty tattoos and gained 79 pounds to show that it was still empowered and stuff.

I’m not sure if I totally understand you but my experience wasnt quite like that.

I went on a pretty serious bender for a few days and didn’t taper off the way I should have. I started seeing flashes of light right in the center of my vision and thought “oh fuck” because I knew what it meant. I totally blacked out for and was apparently convulsing for a few minutes before I came to.

I’ve had my problems fighting demons but this is a crossroads for me. I already attend therapy and self help groups two to three times a week. I’m struggling with what else to do, but I know something has to change. I’ve never had a clearer sign.

Thanks man. From what it sounds you were just experiencing the DTs(delirium tremens) or “the shakes”. Can’t hold still, racing heart, audio hallucinations etc. it’s still a sign of dangerous withdrawal, but not as severe as an actual seizure. I hope you never get to that point.

Be careful out there. We’re all gonna make it bros.

That's slightly reassuring. Still something the normies would excpierence I assume. Thought the shakes were normal more than those little hard tremors you get the next morning while holding coffee at the office. Regardless, I'm thinking you having been able to see the other side by being away for a while can be a really good wakeupcall. Once again, godspeed.

Sitting in a hotel right now tapering down, I didn't want to go to rehab and honestly I'm not really trying to quit completely, I just need to get down from 12 beers a day to say, 3-4 and I know I can be a functional human being if I can manage that.
