Whats the best way to make this?

>> No.11706798

i wouldn't bother
it's like fried chicken. hardly worth the effort, at least in my experience
just deep fry onion rings and get it over with, in this case
even that isn't worth it with all the oil you have to go through when you can just go anywhere and get them.

You'd need a batch fryer for the enormous amount of oil it'd take to cook this thing correctly.

can you do it without a fryer?

i would only even consider making one at home if you have an outdoor deep fryer

I worked one place that served these.
the prep person prepped the onion in the AM. I think she used a tool that looked like one of those push apple corers, except more bades and with out the circle blade in the middle.
I forget the batter or dredge sorry, I think it was dredged in flour then dipped in beer batter.
if I wanted to make it at home I would use a sharp knife and make two cross cuts from top to almost the part were they all come together. then start slicing half the onion in the size strips I want.
use stock pot with oil, it's deep and oil can be used a lot if you filter it.
thin onion straws are better

Wouldn't it be easier and just as tasty if you just made rings and used the batter for blooming onions? it would taste just as good and would be far easier to do.

Try an air fryer, heh.

probably, but what do you care.
maybe OP was chatting up a gal and she mentioned how wet her pussy gets just thinking of blooming onions, I don't give a shit why people do what they do.
thin onion straws are better than blooming onions and onion rings

Maybe even substitute the onions for a whole turkey, heh.

you can find blooming onion cutters online

or you can try a knife

either way it would be a hassle, you still need to coat and batter the onion

No.
>>11706862
It doesn't work.

t. anon who got the whole kit for homemade onion blooms as a gift and wasted his time following the oven instructions it comes with, only to end up with two onions covered in pale crumbly soggy breading except for the parts at the top that were burnt.

like a turkey frier? heh
