really burgers were the first thing i started making and i just tried a lot of methods, like a nice smash burger or a thin patty like that one that i just plopped on the cast iron nice n HAWT, Im starting to lean towards simpler is better as far as toppings, i might go back and try some thick burgers now that i grind my own meat, use a pot lid to get that cheese melty, if you cant find nice buns donuts or croissants are dank

I'm cooking up some chicken parmesan right now for further testing
finding it's not good for things that have a large contact area like meat cutlets cuz they require to be flipped, which gets annoying
also not a very large basket so i have to cook one chicken cutlet at a time to avoid steaming the meat
still reduces mess/waste from cooking on the stovetop with gobs of oil - i only fry food once every other month
wouldn't suggest if you cook for others often
still need to try french fries and fish

Hoisin chicken mini fried pies, and a beef with chorizo and corn black bean salsa mini fried pies. Qlso stuffed loaded potato bites. Just mashed potatoes with sour cream, cheddar, green onion. Those will be rolled up with a steak burger mushroom filling, rolled in egg and crumbs, than also fried. Making two cheesecakes. Each split in half by different crusts and flavor. One is a graham crust with raspberry compote. The other a pumpkin pie cheesecake with spiced crust. The other will have toffee walnut topping, and shortbread cookie crust. Split side is mocha with ganache topping a chocolate cookie crust. Making it all for a little get together this evening. I'll do pics but i think this thread is dying/no one cares.

I made this mistake yesterday with thick cut pork chops. Brined them for 8 hours, with the standard 1/4 cup salt, 1/4 cup sugar, and 4 cups water brine, they are tasty but the salt is just too much. Many recipes on the internet are simply wrong about brining time. Two hours would have done the trick. I figured these big name cooking sites that publish recipes would be correct, but nope. Not completely ruined, but I also cant enjoy them as normal.

Back from holidays with some more comfy winter food. This one is gonna be maple syrup braised beef because I'm Canadian after all. I'm also making some basic vegetables to go with it.

>2 tbsp olive oil
>~2 lb beef rib roast
>1 cup beef broth
>1/2 cup maple syrup
>1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
>1/3 cup soy sauce
>2 tsp minced garlic
>1 chopped onion
>Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat your oven to 350 F. Heat up the oil in an ovenproof pan, season your meat with salt & pepper and sear it a couple minutes on all sides. Had a bit of trouble searing the center on mine but that's fine.

Mix beef broth, maple syrup, balsamix vinegar, soy sauce, garlic and onion together, pour over your meat and bring to a boil. Once it does, cover and put it into the oven for the next 2hr30. Doesn't look like much right now but it'll be great later.

Once it's cooked, it should be easy to take it apart with a fork so you can soak the beef in syrupy goodness. The best part is the sauce honestly.

As for the vegetables, I just cut them up (sweer potatoes and shrooms), mixed with a bit of olive oil, more maple syrup, salt & pepper and thyme and put it in the oven with the beef for the last 40 minutes. I would not recommend that frozen squash, it was mushy and watery, though I might just have overcooked it too.

This one was $80 and 1000 watts. There seems to be a lot around that price that are the same thing but different names. I wouldn't go with anything cheaper as they might suffer in accurate temp control which definitely effects the overall cooking time. The cooking time only counts down while the water is at the set temp, otherwise it stalls the timer until it gets back up to temp. So your might have it set for 130 degrees for an hour but it might take upwards of 2 hours if the temp is not maintained adequately.

Made bangers'n'mash today. Germany though so it's bratwurst. Pretty salty, not as herbal/meaty tasting as British/Irish sausages.
