I know this thread has been done before but I would like some fresh input.

I'm going to order Chinese food later and I want to get something besides the usual. I would rather a more authentic or at least different option than General Tso's and the like.

I've been doing. I've liked: beef chow fun, chicken with black bean sauce, chicken with garlic sauce, beef with lobster sauce, and beef with scallions. The only thing I didn't like was beef with bitter melon.

I'll be ordering from this place

Singapore noodles are both authentic and delicious, very common in HK.

But they should have a separate menu for chinse. If you want to know if a place is legit ask for "white cut chicken or Bak Chit Gai. It's rarely on the menu but very popular among cantonese.

so the Tsung Tsing shrimp was good but nothing special. I'll try something different next time

Everything is americanized in my experience, if you want something traditional you'll have to ask.

my go to is always the seafood combo or "seafood delight" at most places.
mixed assortment of veggies and shrimp.

Egg foo young is quite popular on Chinese-American menus.

yup, 50% of that menu is going to be meat/veg in a generic brown sauce. My favorite chinese take out dish that I've only found in one place is sizzling twice cooked pork in a black bean sauce. The umami from the black bean curd really punches you in the mouth and you could tell the pork was actually fried not bland and boiled like most chinese food meat.

I'd try the singapore rice noodles off the menu you posted. "Szechuan" and "Hunan" are also styles worth checking out but like I said it's a dice roll if they're just going to make it taste like any other dish.
