A good pepper grinder and some tellicherry peppercorns would be nice.

Don't guess blind when it come's to someone's hobby. If you don't know specifically something they want or could use, then just get something else.

I'd like a nice steel pan.

le hot sauce assortment
just kidding, give a good set of utensils, my mom and aunt liked their silicone tool set I got them a few Christmases ago. Could also get people something good like an air fryer, panini maker, nice set of knives or knife sharpener, really good blender/cup dual system like a Ninja or Nutriblend, I love the one I got 3 years ago and use it every day still. New cutting boards are always great, too, as well as spices/salt/whatever kit or some tupperware, why the fuck not, it's a gift, the fuckers have to take it

everything I own came from a garage sale or thrift store.
3 dollar fry daddy, looked to never have been used
5 dollar toaster over, used sparingly, just the size I needed
3 dollar pampered chef pizza stone. makes perfect pizzas
3 dollar burr mixer with a small food processor attachment
copper sauce pot, but it needs relined I think, tastes bad
also found a tea kettle that is from finland
pots and pans that are holding up well.
My best non kitchen find was a Infinty mirror light for a buck and a half. just needed $1 replacement bulbs
and pic related for .75 cents
I love garage sale finds
I don't think I need anything else

That's true too, however sometimes it's the thought that counts.

Fillet knife or a cooler with good insulation

I've been thinking about getting my dad an air fryer for the holidays, I'm just not sure what he'd use it for.

Make sure he's got a power outlet and space for the thing. Then get him something to cook in it to make it a combination gift. Maybe popcorn?

no it really isn't
no one wants to get a shitty cooking related gift. the thought counts a lot more if it's not related to cooking and you just get them something cute

Make something. Ferments and preserves are always a hit. In the absence of ideas for a better gift I send fermented hot sauce, sauerkraut, and pear preserves.

That's a good idea. I don't really have enough time for fermented stuff now though. Unless I bring it and say don't try it for a few weeks.
