You should always use credit cards, you get better bonuses. I don't get why some people think using a credit card means you are using money you can't afford, just set autopay to 100% and reap in that free cashback every month. I especially noticed it when I was traveling in Germany, so many places did not accept cards and locals all seemed to think that using a card meant I was spending more than I had.

Also credit cards have better fraud protection than debit cards, you really should only use a debit card if thats the only accepted option. You should be able to keep a proper budget regardless of what type of card or cash you use if you are not literally retarded. In fact you shouldn't even really need to think about a budget at all unless you are living considerably above your means
