Continental and American follow the same principles. When you're resting, you put down the utensils in the same position you're grabbing them, but once you're finish, you put both in the right hand and then put them down. I'd argue the continental way is the most intuitive but both are better than whatever meme shit the British one is.

Shitty pic, shitty thread and, as always, OP is a faggot.

Reminder that americans use their american style because they can't use a fork with their left hand so they start with the knife in their left and fork in right (often times in a downward grip) and then carve, switch hands, eat and car repeat. Some even go far as to carve everything on the plate first and then set the knife down and just use a fork.

Pic related.

When would you ever need to do this and who the fk really cares. If you are finished and still at the table, the service would ask before taking it away.
Also would you normally leave the table before finishing the meal to find your half eaten meal taken away?

I am a left handed american. I use the knife in my left hand, fork in my right. It only makes sense to use your dominant hand for the knife. Gently cutting your food requires more coordination that simply holding the food in place and transporting it from plate to mouth. I've used both continental and american style for when i'm resting or finished. I don't find myself needing a rest mid meal though. How much are you fat fucks eating that you need to stop and catch your breath so often that you need to develop non-verbal communication with utensils?

The point is that traditional "American style" requires you to pick up and swap utensils between every bite of your meal.
BTW the reason why burgers don't use the same resting style as everyone else is because making a cross with your utensils is offensive to Jesus, lmao
