ITT: food products that used to be great but are now shit.

I'll start. Stagg chili used to be good, chunky chili. But now it's almost entirely sauce, with barely any meat or beans.

Food companies love to cut corners like that. Lower the quality little by little so it can be cheaper for them to make. But still expect you to pay the same price.

i stopped buying premade shit all together
a few hours work yields more homemade canned chili than i can carry and it's miles better than anything you can buy at a store

Twinkies. They used to be something to kill for but then one year they completely changed the recipe and it's one of the worst snack foods on the market.

The filling used to be rich and have a bit of a grit to it and the cake was moist and thick. Now though the filling is this airy, flavorless shaving cream and the cake part tastes and feels fake.

Famous fucking Amos. They kicked the inventor out of the company and completely altered/cheapened the recipe.
The inventor, Wally Amos, now makes the old Famous Amos recipe under a new company, but you have to mail-order them from fucking Hawaii so I only buy them like once a year.

I fucking hate how companies make a quality product, then slowly turn it into cheap garbage by minimalistic changes over 5-10 years.

Any of the meat Hormel Compleats used to be godly
They used to be like a $1.50 in the grocery store I worked at and were just fuckin super tasty. Nice and salty and the meat was always tender, even the potatoes and vegetables weren't bad.
Then they went up in price and the quality went down, for a microwave meal. Now I see them for like 3-4 bucks and it just aint the same.
Use to eat these all the time when I got my first grocery job.

Why are you on a food and cooking forum if you think like this? The whole point of cooking is save money and produce a superior product than you would find at the grocery store pre-made.

on topic, 7up was good until they re-branded it as "all natural" back in like 2006. It had a sharper, more tin-y taste and was far more appeal than the washed out, shadow of its former self 7up currently. is.

Campbell's Chunky Chicken Noodle also used to be God-tier and my go to choice at the grocery store, but sometime in ~2012 they changed the broth recipe and it tastes off now.
