That's true, removing the placenta from the chili also makes it less hot. Most of the capsaicin is in the seeds and placenta.

Meta analyses are only as good as the studies they're studying and the field of dietary/nutritional "sciences" is rife with speculation due to a lack of a reliable source of subjects who can be made to follow directions in a scientifically rigorous manner. Meta analyses are better for other fields where the general quality of the studies available are more rigorous.

"Dietary cholesterol has an important effect on the cholesterol level in the blood of chickens and rabbits, but many controlled experiments have shown that dietary cholesterol has a limited effect in humans. There are a few classifications of mushrooms we need to keep in mind when debating this point: Saprotrophic and Mycorrhizal mushrooms.
Saprotrophs, or decomposers, live off tree bark or other living things and this affects their flavor. They are more "meaty" and full in appearance, and cover things like normal white button and shiitake mushrooms, morels, oyster mushrooms, creminis and puffballs. You don't really want to submerge these mushrooms in water or run them under a sink because they will absorb it through their porous, spongy skin and this dilutes the flavor of the mushroom, and can also ruin the texture, making it waterlogged and mushy.

The second type, Mycorrhizal mushrooms, are more spindly and delicate, like chanterelles and porcinis. These can take a very quick rinse because they aren't as porous and won't be as quick to absorb water.

Either way you don't really need to wash mushrooms. Just wipe the dirt away with a wet cloth to avoid compromising the cellular structure and flavor.

Mushrooms aren't bread, they do not react to water like bread, and even a full-immersion rinse doesn't do anything serious to them if you use them immediately.

You're a moron spouting old wives tales.

That's right. And that's exactly what OP stated. Want to know WHY it's true? Water doesn't harm mushrooms BECAUSE they are 95% water. Water harms dry foods, not ones which are already wet.

I can't believe I had to spell that out for you.

Soy can boost estrogen levels but typically fermentation breaks these compounds down, so Soy Sauce and Miso won't really boost estrogen.
