Hi!!

I’m here to talk about the incredible dog that is the Kirkland hot dog,

Did you know that Costco loses money every time it sells a $1.50 hot dog and doesn't care. On our long list of things we love about Costco, the $1.50 hot dog special (dog and soda) is up there.

The drink combination even includes free refills, and I can promise you this is the cheapest place you'll find 100% all beef hot dogs outside of a kids' sport concession stand.

The Costco hot dog has been around for almost 34 years, and it has never gone up in price!

CONTRARY TO MYTH, THE HOT DOG IS A QUARTER-POUND 100% BEEF DOG.

Despite the same price tag, the hot dog is about 10 percent thicker than the original quarter-pound version in 1984.

If you combined the yearly hot dog sales from every Major League Baseball stadium in the U.S., Costco will have outsold them four times over.

In 2015, Costco sold 128 million hot dogs. They tend to sell, on average, 100 million hot dogs yearly. Wild, huh?

Apart from being a 100% pure beef hot dog, each signature hot dog does not contain: by-products, corn syrup, phosphates, fillers, or artificial colors or flavors. One could say that they can get away with using less additives because they sell so many each year, but really it just proves the quality of Kirkland Signature. 100% BEEF

Some stores might have phased out the onion and sauerkraut dispensers, but you can still ask for those toppings on your dog while you're at the counter. They come free of charge, too.

I hope you have enjoyed learning about the Kirkland hot dog and enjoy one next time you visit your favorite Costco!!

I find it hard to believe they lose money on those hotdog combos. I'm sure it's shit margins but I doubt they actually go negative

The cheap delicious hot dog gets you in the CostCo doors. Then you remember you need toilet paper and a lightbulb, and you can get a 24-pack of both right there, while you eat your dog. It's an advertising tactic that only gets better as the price of a hotdog rises, but CostCo's stays the same.
