I love oat meal and have cooked it in all sorts of ways with all sorts of milk (including chocolate, banana and strawberry flavored ones). Can you guys give me some weird ideas that I can try ?

Cook in milk. Add salt and walnuts after.

You can also grind oats in a coffee grinder or something and use the flour to make pancakes, they have a nice texture if you want to try something different.

Something simple yet different:
>put the best rolled oats you can aquire in your vessel of choice
>pour cold milk of choice to just barely cover the oats, not too much
>cover vessel and refrigerate at least 6 hours, at most 36 hours
>cover with the best salted natural peanut butter you can find, I prefer Adams Crunchy (with salt)
>cover peanut butter with a drizzle of the freshest honey you can find
>enjoy
Everyone of my friends has loved this recipe, evn the ones who hate oats. Some of them even made it a staple in their breakfast rotations. It's easy to fuck it up if you don't have the best salted peanut butter and honey topping, or if you overload it with the topping instead of focusing on the oats themselves. After refrigeration oats need to be saoked and swollen with milk, but not watery. Topping needs to be put on after refrigeration, but before consumption. In my opinion this needs to be eaten cold, right out of the fridge, it's very strange warm or hot.

Pomegranates are actually pretty good, nice taste and add an additional texture.

Try savory oatmeal. With an egg, for example. It’s not bad.

Oatmeal with pinto beans, avocado and a poached egg on top.

dice ham
dice hot peppers
dice onion
brown ham in pot, remove and set aside
add onion until almost tender, deglaze with bourbon, add peppers until tender and mixture is almost dry
add water and milk to whatever ratio you like, about half and half with whole milk is what I usually do
bring to a boil, then reduce to low simmer
add all ingredients, including oats
add 1 bay leaf, about 1/4 teaspoon cumin, a pinch of nutmeg, and a pinch of dried oregano per serving
dice sharp cheddar while gruel is gruelling
add cheddar to serve

I like to use thick rolled oats and simmer until thick with as little stirring as I am comfortable with while assuring I'm not letting the bottom scorch.

remove the bay leaf and season with salt and pepper before serving, too

Use it to replace rice in any dish that doesn’t mixing the the rice with the ingredients. But i usually just use onion, and garlic powder with salt. Tr also making it with its instead of water, taste life stuffing. I once mad some with prune juice, salt, and onion as well, for a savory sweet oatmeal that goes well with a melted top of Swiss.
