There's so many reasons they're trying to push this but actually, for nice reasons:
>almost anything when it comes to resources, insects use 1/10 or even 1/100 of what regular meat needs such as land, labor, initial investment etc.
>insects doesn't produce methane and have a very low carbon print
>the ratio of feed/meat needed(meaning how many kilograms of feed you need to obtain usable meat) varies from 1-1 to 2-1 instead of 10-1(pork, chickens) or even 20-1(beef)

liberal media pushes bug eating and bug chasing for the same reason: overpopulation. except they'll never say its because of overpopulation. they'll say it's because eating meat is murder, and damages the environment, and is bad because it fuels testostrone toxic-masculinity and perpetuates inequality and farming cattle leads to rainforest destruction etc etc.

at the end of the day, our lives are made worse due to never-ending jewry and nig population growth. the liberals want to push bug chasing homosex because it aids in depopulation. their ideal world is one in which they rule over an underclass of city-dwelling bugmen who eat bugs, have gay/lesbian sex, all while these same liberal elites continue to eat meat and perhaps even babies/fetuses. it's fucked man. don't go down this rabbit hole or you'll never trust anything ever again.

It's one of these "sustainability initiatives" pushed by ideologies that seek to improve the standard of living of third-world societies. Unfortunately, until we reach the "singularity", resource allocation is in fact a zero-sum game, and this improvement can only be made by decreasing the standard of living in the first world (i.e. "sustainability"). I might check out the dried mealworms specifically sold as fish/bird food though if I happen to like the general idea of eating insects. Same species of insects and I'm somewhat optimistic that the taste wouldn't be much different. 50 wt-% of protein doesn't sound too bad either.

The UN is planning on herding human beings into cities. Manmade natural disasters result in the federal government buying up all privately-held land in a premium. The government doesn't want you to own land. With the human race's population growing at unnaturally high rates due to less lethal diseases, this means that it will no longer be efficient to grow animals for slaughter.

Per calorie consumed, insects are around four times as efficient as a cow, and can be kept in a much more constrained environment. Insects have a faster lifecycle, and can be grown and harvested more quickly. Rootless cosmopolitans and the power elite will continue to stuff their face with meat a la medieval nobles, but the average globalized wageserf will eat meat a handful of times a year as a special treat.

What you see on TV prepares you for the future. When TV and movies push transhumanism through VR and prosthetics, they were preparing you to accept and love the new technology on the market. Or just the general sexual degeneracy that you see on TV/youtube now.
