Not him, but every Shoprite, Acme, Food Lion, Hannaford and Pathmark (RIP), I've been to has beef, pork and turkey bacon sliced to order at the deli. I think they have a separate slicer for it because when you order it, the deli slave walks away for a bit and comes back with your freshly sliced bacon on wax paper and plops it on the scale.
I know one hyperlocal supermarket chain around here that slices slab bacon in the morning and keeps the slices in a plastic bin/tub in the bottom of the deli fridge. When you order bacon from the deli there, the worker opens the fridge, gets a plastic produce bag, physically grabs a handful of slices from the bin and weighs it. Then they put the plastic bag into a paper bag with the price written on it.
And the deli on my corner slices bacon to order when you ask for a breakfast sandwich from them. I don't think they have a separate slicer for bacon to separate it from the meat and cheese, but they've never failed an inspection according to the health department website.

So it's very common, at least here in northeast, to get bacon from a deli counter. Where do you live where that's not an option?
