I can get ground turkey for almost a third as much as ground beef. I've never used it before. Does it actually make chili that's on par or at least comparable to beef chili or is turkey chili just a california hippies?

>> No.11392723

Turkey's aren't from chile, they're are from north America

>> No.11392762

Ground turkey is not that great and I actually don't know why. I used to subscribe to the theory that the only flavor component separating meats is the fat content but turkey somehow remains shit even after I add butter or other fats to it. I think it has something to do with the moisture retention or consistency of it.

My sister has dietary restrictions which force her to use ground turkey instead of ground beef. I've tried it when she makes tacos and I'd say they are about 90% as good as beef tacos. I would assume that it would work fairly well in chili since chili has a higher moisture content than tacos.

Turkey chili is actually pretty great and slightly less oily than ground beef chili. I imagine if your chili recipe is shit and relies on the taste of beef fat then you'll be able to tell the difference though.

it will be more dry and not as flavorful as beef

it's not as rich as beef, but its lighter as in you don't fell like you swallowed a bowling ball after eating some. i make turkey chili during the spring and summer and beef chili in late fall into winter. turkey chili works great with black beans and extra cumin.

chili shouldn't have meat in it. why do you want to turn glorious chili into a rank, greasy, sloppy pot of garbage?
beans are all you need.

because it's dog meat, you can try pork though, that will be around half of what beef costs, just pay attention to the meat/fat ratio, pork tends to be more fatty, i usually use a 50:50 bland of pork and beef for everything but burger patties

I've done turkey chili before, it's a bit dryer than beef so add liquid like stock or something while cooking it. It's pretty good, it might take a couple tries to get it right and to your taste but keep trying and you'll get it right.

if it's that serious then she should not be eating meat at all. Nor should she eat fat. I don't eat much fat. Less than 30 grams a day.

I usually just take a pound of ground turkey, fry it in some oil or butter as a crumble, add a bunch of spices like turmeric, black pepper, salt, chili powder, cayenne pepper, maybe onion powder, and then eat it with some brown rice. Easy to make, feels lighter than an equivalent beef or pork based meal, but it still filling. Also now that I've learned how to spice to my preference, it tastes amazing as well. Not dry at all if you fry the crumble in some kind of fat and don't fuck it up

Dietary fat and dietary cholesterol do not cause serum cholesterol.
High serum (blood) cholesterol is caused by eating extremely high amounts of refined, high-glycemic index carbs such as HFCS and french fries, over a long period of time.
Serum cholesterol is the body's natural response to weak spots in your arteries, like blood platelets form scabs to patch up weak spots in your skin. The body dispatches cholesterol to patch up holes so you get high cholesterol from having a lot of fucked up spots in your arteries. This happens through repeated inflammation. Inflammation is caused by eating far too many carbs.

And this is only made worse by their comman economy style control of the agricultural sector that is turning their environment into a hellish post-apocalyptic wasteland.
