Bodhi Viet Vegan is terrific. Get a bunch of food to go and eat it at St. Edward’s Park. If you like Chinese food, visit Asia Cafe, which has some of the best Chinese in the United States. Whatever you do, though, don’t get memed into eating at Chi’lantro. Their kimchi isn’t even very good.

Black's is killer, but there's a difference between Black's and Terry Black's. Not sure which one other anons are referring to, but Terry Blacks is the more well-known one and there's def a line there. but it's not awful

Franklins is great, but the wait isn't worth it and should only be done with several friends and some beer. I've always preferred Lamberts or Blacks, but if you can make it to Elgin (20 minute drive) Southsides is excellent. Fabi + Rosi, Uchi, Justines, Fonda San Miguel are all excellent quality, but obviously just for central TX and can't really compete with their native equivalents. Blue Dahilia, Hillside Farmacy are easy and consistent, Eastside Cafe is a lovely spot. Haymaker or Blacksheep for afternoon drinks and some football. Full Circle is excellent for cheap drinks and getting into some trouble (awesome people). I always recommend El Patio if you don't mind getting on campus. Pho Dan is a nice hole in the wall.

Austin is literally just a trendy circlejerk of Texan food. The only reason it has any renown is a younger population of food bloggers and tourists. You can get that kind of food in even small towns outside of the fusion Asian taco joints and whatnot.
