no central nervous system with the capacity to process suffering, no gigantic environmental footprint and nothing cute dies.

A worm is not an insect in any way, shape or form. The only thing worms have in common with insects is they are both kingdom Animalia, and they’re both invertebrates.

There are several phyla a worm can belong to, depending on its state of segmentation: Annelida (segmented worms like earthworms), Nematoda (roundworms like hookworms), and Platyhelminthes (flatworms like tapeworms).

None of these phyla include insects, which belong to phylum Arthropoda, subphylum Hexpoda, class Insecta.

I'd give it a try.

I'm not married to eating meat, if there's a substitute that tastes the same and is a decent price, I'm happy to eat it.

If I couldn't tell then I literally wouldn't care at all, probably prefer it because it's unarguably more ethical.

So, I'm always happy to try these things once. Sometimes I go back to them and sometimes I throw them out half eaten.

I'd be more open to trying insect based foods if it weren't for the fact that they are the world's biggest bait and switch waiting to happen. The moment insect products gain any demand and profit will be when the rich dickheads who pursued this sit back and enjoy wasting entire cows for filet mignon while any real meat is scarce and expensive enough that you'll need to plan a vacation around eating it.

It's no different from the "meat" product you get in cheap chicken nuggets and patties, or hot dogs. I'd rather we start eating bugs this way instead of some cyberpunk nightmare where we eat them raw or cook them into a stew. Properly ground up and seasoned it makes no difference.
