Tabasco is really the only choice. Srirachi is a meme, Frank's and Cholula are basically ketchup (green Cholula is good though), and Louisiana Original is good but ultimately a knockoff of Tabasco.

Ketchup was originally a fish sauce the English adapted from East Asia containing mushrooms, fish brine, and/or chili with a vinegar base. Tomato ketchup was a later invention in America and is by know means the original or singular version of ketchup. Calling a vinegar-base hot sauce, which isn't actually hot, ketchup is technically correct.

>> No.11276210

El Yucateco is the best. Too many taste too vinegary, Cholula, Tapatio,Franks, etc.

Louisiana is pretty nice i guess.

Jeez, I feel dumb. Guess I'll start calling tobasco "ketchup" and screaming autistically when someone tries to correct me.
But no, a mixture of vinegar and spices has never been historically referred to as ketchup. Another ingredient is always needed as a base, like mushrooms or bananas or tomatoes. Prove me wrong.

For most types cooking hot sauce wise, all you need is Tabasco, frank's red hot, sriracha, and gochujang. Outside of dry spices of course. Prove me wrong.
