Actually the line at the kiosk is either non existent. Since 1 kiosk has 2 sides to order at. And with 4 kiosks thats 8 places to order. Way more than the 1 or 2 clerks taking your order wrong.
Im sorry but the kiosk is way superior in every way possible. You dont have social contact tho. Which i'll give you, but I doubt you have good convo's with a fucking teen that takes your food order. So unless you're a lonely senior there's no reason to cry about social interaction.

These redesigns happen because things start looking like shit after a while and rather than replace with the same you can use it to create a bunch of design improvements.

Fuck you and fuck your bullshit mentality. Was everything better in the past? Probably not, but I hate this modern meme of pretending that all pining for the old days is purely in one's imagination. Quality of life through history does not exist on some exponential scale, where it just gets better and better as the years go on. Sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes we drift towards ideological dead ends. Sometimes we lose the plot. I don't pretend the world I grew up in was the best and most perfect reality we could find ourselves in, but I'm old enough to see where this shit is headed. It is easy enough to be complacent with the rampant encroachment on your privacy, freedom, and economic mobility when you're born into a house already on fire.

I'm not so much against 'change' if at the core of that change the meaning behind the original does not lose it's sentiment and heart. But I liked the old McDonalds because it was YOUR McDonalds, not all of them looked the same, they all were built slightly differently from a local contractor (usually). It might sound stupid but there was a real sense of you McDonalds being your 'local' McDonalds restaurant. This idea everything needs to be the same is just wrong. The mass commercialization of society took away personality in everything and harmed us in a very wrong way. No musician today sounds original, they all sound the same. Before there were real personalities in everything, not just music. Actors too. They're all carbon copies now. Or people without talent are put into roles of prestige for the sake of 'diversity'. forced 'equality' has ruined everything. In fact an argument can be made that inequality is the only thing on this earth that gives anything meaning at all. If everything was the same, and everyone was the same, it wouldn't be so special, would it?

I believe this is the sentiment behind people who do not like 'change'. I don't think they are flat out against 'change'. But if that change is not an extension of the previous principles that either simplify the previous principle for the better and keep the previous principles heart in tact, then change is frankly unnecessary. What those people are 'fearful' of is something that runs much deeper than mere physical appearance. It isn't some 'the good ol' days' mindset. It's real. maybe one day you'll understand.

We used to more heavily market fast food to kids, who wanted a fun place to go. Colorful, interesting designs catch kids attention more easily. We didn't quite have as many fat kids, so we didn't really get the harm in buying kids a cheeseburger a couple times a week (then they became fat).

Now, parents want to feel like they're feeding their kids healthy, or at least not awful foods. The new modern fast food designs try to mock the standards that fast casual chains with 'real food' (Chipotle, Fresh Kitchen, whatever) have created. They also introduce new, healthier options (although nobody gets them) to make make it feel like everything is as healthy as it.

tl;dr used to market to kids, kids got fat, parents concerned, parents now only go to 'fancy' places, and fast food changes its appearances to match that desire.

McDonalds is unironically a great brand. The only thing wrong with it is the quality of its workers in the US, where it caters to lower income people.

People use McDonalds as a symbol of bland corporatism, which is ironic because McDonald's menu is highly distinctive, e.g. their fries or the big mac. I could eat at 10 "good" burger joints and their burgers would be almost indistinguishable while the big mac is immediately recognizable.

For people in other countries, McDonalds is a unique delicacy, not the foreign invasion that SJWs see it as.

I'm challenging that the concept of bland corporatism is useful or meaningful. I don't think brands like McDonalds make the world less varied or interesting. I used burger joints as an example, but street food is another example. You can have hundreds of street food vendors all selling something indistinguishable.

The idea that big corporations make the world boring and homogenous is primarily pushed by people on the left, because they see our economic system as fundamentally flawed and corrupt. Others adopt anti-corporate views uncritically because they have a naive appeal.

So you have to understand that no one can guess what's going on in your angry, petty mind from the short posts you write. I assumed you meant from >>11275528 and >>11275700 that you thought I sounded fat because I liked McDonalds burgers, and so I responded by pointing out that McDonalds burgers aren't especially high in calories. You, lacking a functioning theory of mind, failed to understand why I was saying that and went on a rant about quality in >>11275723.

So I'm guessing you meant in >>11275528 that I sound fat because I don't care about quality? If so, I don't think McDonalds is bad quality, maybe the beef is slightly worse but everything else is just normal ingredients.

If I want to pick up fast food as a treat for family and friends I'll do just that and then bring it home where I'm most comfortable.

If I'm hungry and just want some quick cheap food to eat for lunch I'm going to McDonalds and avoiding people because the majority of humans on this planet are disgusting, trivial, awful people and I have no obligation to share with them an experience reserved for family or friends, faggot.

Twice now I’ve seen a boomer publicly freak out at the lack of cashiers and storm out in an ignorant huff. I love it. Based McDonald’s sticking it to old fucks afraid of change (the same old fucks that created the corporate penny pinching economy that led to kiosks in the first place).

Oh and I also fucking love how when I walk in I don’t get five slaves all separately shouting “WELCOME TO MCDONALDS” like at Moes or Jimmy Johns. It’s so forced and obnoxious.

McDonalds also even got cheaper over the years because the app offers new users a coupon for any sandwich being 1 dollar then after you can just make a new account and use it the next time. I’ve been getting one dollar bug macs and quarter pounders all year long. All while boomers walk out starving cause they’re too fucking entitled to use technology. Fast food never tasted so good and I love this new cynical state the country is in.

this is just what is happening in architecture in general. fast food chains aren't out there to be bold paradigm shifters.

that's one of the big criticisms of modern architecture, all buildings across all cultures and all functions are beginning to look alike. if these didn't have fast food logos and drive through lanes, could you guess what the building was used for? a bank? a dentists office? a resto? could you guess where it was located? Recognizable is the wrong term. What I meant is if gourmet burgers are more similar to each other than the big mac is to any of them. Obviously I don't mean every possible gourmet burger, but the kind you would typically get in a high end burger place.

For me, the big mac flavor is completely dominated by the tang of the special sauce, which itself is distinct from the thousand island dressing used in say, in-n-out. The texture is much less about the meat and more about the crunch of the raw onions, lettuce and pickles combined with the softness of the bread.

For me it's not controversial to say that the big mac is an outlier in the world of burgers. In fact I'm curious if anyone could name a burger more distinctive than the big mac.
