>roommates buy eggs
>im weird about the expiration date
>at most ill eat it a few days after depending how it looks and smells
>ask roommates if i can throw it away and i get new ones
"anon we always tell you eggs are still good 2 weeks after the date"
>the date is aug 24th and it was sep 19th
>buy new carton of eggs anyway for my food prep
>make scrambled eggs with rice and just eat that for breakfast
>the eggs are still there untouched
>see them reach for the carton
>see them miserably eat old eggs
>i can see them quietly despising me with my fresh eggs

why do people make themselves suffer?

he is; his very existence is this video. The genie is trapped. Let it loose.

If you let the genie loose, how can he be a genie at all?
There can be no freedom for this man of eggs, for to be free would be somebody else.

Most "expatriation" dates are just best before dates, as in they'll be fine it'll just be better before this date. So many people have forgotten how to judge of food is good or not
>About to grill some steak and chicken
>Leave meat out on the bench
>After 20 minutes friend comes in and says I shouldn't eat that meat because it'll make me sick
Some people are too precious

Eggs can last about two months when properly refrigerated the whole time. Expiration date is usually around one month after they are produced so the eggs in your example should still be safe. They do become crappier though which is most noticeable with soft boiled and especially poached eggs. I assume omelets would be less fluffy too but I haven't checked that personally.

I find that it is easier to tell an old egg when softboiled or poached.

I never refrigerate my eggs. This has irked everyone I know to no end.

half of it is air.
You HAVE to use fresh eggs for poached tho. It makes all the difference.

OP is a faggot. Eggs say good for months and months with little difference in quality. Poached eggs MIGHT be SLIGHTLY better fresh, but boiled eggs peel SLIGHTLY easier when old.

The difference is negligible, your frugal roommates are right to keep their eggs, OP you have certified autism.

Noticable when boiling, because of the giant air pocket. It's actually the way I cook my bad eggs. There is no problem to it, but the real reason OP can:
>see them miserably eat old eggs
is because his roomate probably:
>i can see them quietly despising me

I am sure OP said some dumb quip like 'Oh, are those the week old eggs' or some dumb shit.

You're only supposed to refrigerate your eggs if you live in America or Japan. Everywhere else just doesn't wash the protective coating off. Most of those countries you aren't even allowed to sell them refrigerated.

I had an old guy randomly tell my mom and I when I was a little kid that eggs could last six months unrefrigerated. I've tried them at 4 months old refrigerated and sure enough they've been fine.

You're an overly squeamish moron. Eggs are good for a long time. Guess what, sometimes they sit in the backroom cooler at the grocery store for 2-3 weeks before they make it to the shelves, and they're still fine.
